Greek Food Recs | Beyond the "Food Desert" Myth!

TL;DR - good food, reasonably priced, excellent service. I came here on a Sunday evening with my brother. We were seated by a friendly waiter very quickly, and it was nice that he asked us which table we wanted from a selection. It wasn't too busy either. The restaurant itself is quite easy to find, modern, and large enough with both outdoor and indoor seating areas. The restaurant area and the toilets were very clean as well. The menu had a fair amount of choice of plates, and a 'daily specials' menu on the front which wasn't on the website - Greek dishes including moussaka, stifado, lamb and more. We were given their own chilled carbon-filtered water for free with the table with unlimited refills - I must say, it's the freshest-tasting water I've had so far on my week in Athens! We were also given a potato and leek soup, nice white and brown crusty bread, and olive and cream (I think) pastes alongside them, all for free. The soup was nice, but a tad too salty for my taste. We ordered a Greek salad as a starter which was nice - although slightly overpriced I think for what it was worth. The ingredients all tasted fresh and the tomatoes were plentiful and tasty! We both ordered a moussaka as a main course which came with vegetables on the side; this was a good-sized portion, filling and very tasty! To finish, we were given a profiterole dessert for free, and a lemon-style drink with our bill - both were very nice. The bill itself was a very reasonable 40 euros. I can almost guarantee you won't walk away feeling hungry! In fact, nearly everyone I saw in this restaurant couldn't finish their meal because they were too full. Something that made this restaurant stand out the most to us was the service - all the staff were friendly and welcoming, speaking both fluent English and Greek. They regularly checked if we were enjoying our meal, and heard them say to the table next to us that they are always looking for feedback to improve their food and valued honest opinions about why they couldn't finish their meal; this made a very good impression. What's more, the waiter even kindly knocked the price of one of their dishes off their receipt because one of the guests was too full to eat it. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant. I rarely give 5-star reviews for restaurants, and it is even rarer for me to not be able to fault one. If you're looking for a good, friendly restaurant, this is the one! I would definitely consider coming again. Thank you!

OROSCOPO? More like, OOPS did you just scam me? We enjoyed the atmosphere, dishes, and attentive attitude of the waiters here. The only qualms I had were the size of the Greek salad, which cost the most out of all the Greek salads we ordered on our trip (12,80 euros), and the bread service. This is more for the upper management rather than the servers (because I know they don’t set the rules) but it was definitely incoming scam alert! While we were looking at menus, they delivered a plate of 6 slices of bread (3 flat ones, 3 round ones) and two small dips. We immediately surmised that this was not on the house. We saw on their menu in small print that it was 1,90 euros, which seemed a fair price for bread. However, at the end of our meal, the bill came and we saw that it was actually 7,60 euros for the bread. The waiter curtly explained that it was actually per person. Excuse me…where did you mention that it was per person on the menu?? We also noticed that the amount of bread that came out to each table was exactly the same, meaning that the amount of bread for two people and the amount of bread for four people would be still based on price per person. We felt really cheated because they did not mention that bread would be charged per person. In order to properly run a business, I suggest that you at least mention that bread is $1.90 per person on your menu so that your patrons don’t leave your restaurant with a bad feeling in their stomachs. BTW, if you are going to scam me for some bread, at least make sure that it’s piping hot and not cold?

Based on the reviews, this was a restaurant we had been wanting to try for a long time, and we finally had the chance to go for dinner. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. From what we could tell, it seems to be a restaurant geared toward tourists staying at the nearby hotels. We ordered lamb, beef, and an eggplant salad. Unfortunately, we didn’t like any of them. We were quite surprised at how such simple dishes could be made so tasteless. The beef might be the most flavorless I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is not comfortable. The waitstaff and service lack professionalism, with unnecessary interruptions that are quite bothersome. Someone craving attention might appreciate this, but for those wanting to enjoy a meal in peace, it’s irritating. After the meal, we were offered several desserts, but none of them were particularly special. They were simple, perhaps even store-bought. The prices are very high for a place like this. For the same price, you can have much tastier meals in the most touristy restaurants in Athens' Plaka district. I definitely do not recommend this place.

My husband and I had a delicious anniversary dinner here. The service was amazing and the food was fantastic! Our server brought us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for our anniversary which was very nice! They brought us complimentary soup and bread with dips that were very good. Based on reviews, we ordered the "pear" cheeses with jams and they were unbelievably good! We also ordered the mozzarella stuffed meatballs with pesto appetizer and they were the best meatballs I've had in my entire life- and I'm Italian! They were juicy, soft and flavorful! I had pasta with roasted peppers and mushrooms in a cream sauce and it was delicious! For dessert, we were brought an assortment of 4 desserts that were also complimentary! The chocolate cone and strawberry cake were our favorites. For a soda, the prosecco, 2 apps, 2 pasta dinners and dessert, it only cost $55 eur since they include so many things. We had a great meal with great service. And we'll be talking about those meatballs forever! 😄

Absolutely incredible restaurant! The service was exceptional - best service I’ve had in all of Europe I would even say! Every single plate ordered was fantastic - I was shocked at how much I loved the oyster mushrooms as a certified mushroom hater! The cheese pears were incredible, not at all heavy and overly indulgent. The soup, the bread, the desserts, the little drink at the end - I was shocked at all the complimentary food that was so high in calibre at that! My family cannot stop raving about this restaurant, absolutely one of the best meals we’ve had and one to remember for a long time. Finally, wow that value!! I thought it was going to cost far far more than it did! We were shocked when the bill came at the total (you could honestly raise your prices if you wanted… the food really is worth more than we paid in my opinion! Absolutely recommend this restaurant!
