One of the best overall dining experiences of my life!
I found this place by looking for a good steak in Athens. The reviews were good so I book a reservations.
From the moment I entered the restaurant everything things started good and just got better.
Ambience:
The design is modern nature with lighting that accents the earth tones and naturalistic design. So when they say, “ come down in a garden” you definitely feel as in you have been set in a candle lit garden mixed with an umbrella elegant upscale restaurant!
As the man out with a lady I am usually sitting in the chair as apposed to the bench, and of course these chair vary in comfort. At Vezene the chair was a solid wood frame with a leather fir. Leather cushion that made me want to order a set to take home.
The bathroom was not only clean but design with every detail in mind. From the gap soap with a slight grit, to the small clothes to dry hands, and event the faucet was placed over a wooden slat sink that kept the natural design going.
Service:
The host, sommelier, server, server assistant, all were attentive and accommodating. We were recommended a wonderful small production semi-sweet muscat that was light fruit forward and delighted my guest.
Our server went over recommendations and highlighted dishes that were staples and guest favorites. We followed her recommendation and were not disappointed by anything we tried. Plates and silverware were promptly reset for eat course. Wine and water was kept chill away from the table and refreshed as needed.
Food:
We tried at least 5 starters and a main dish, the core de beouef.
My favorites were the pellet tomatoes with a roasted report dipping sauce and whipped cheese that was diving.
And of course the Cote de beouf perfectly cooked medium sliced thin with roasted cauliflower, peppers, and garlic. Salted just so.
For desert we have a dish that was moist chocolate cake with a ganaches, vanilla ice cream with winter spice, nuts. The combination of textures and layered flavors had my guest doing a little jig.
Everyones taste are different so I will let the pictures speak to you.
I can not recommend this...
Read moreMy experience at Vezene restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I sat down, it was clear that this was going to be a disaster. The chipped and broken plate that my stamnagathi salad was served on was just the beginning of a series of mishaps.
The crooked forks, with only the dessert ones being in decent condition, added to the lack of attention to detail in this establishment. The tomato salad was a sad excuse for a dish, lacking flavor and freshness. The scallops were rubbery and far from soft as they should have been. The youvetsi although it was tasteful it was undercooked and got stuck in my teeth, forcing me to use toothpicks to remove the pieces.
But the worst part of the whole experience was the aggressive and rude attitude of the lady who welcomed us. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, she turned hostile and argumentative when we provided feedback on the main course. She tried to shift the blame onto us for not speaking up earlier, and continued to argue with us despite our attempts to defuse the situation. Her unprofessional behavior completely ruined what should have been a peaceful night.
To top it all off, there was only one toilet for all customers to share, adding to the discomfort of the evening. The only silver lining was our waiter, who showed kindness and politeness throughout the meal. However, the outrageous price of around 200€ for a meal for two people, with two whiskeys and a glass of wine at such an unprofessional establishment is completely unjustifiable.
Overall, I would not recommend Vezene restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant...
Read moreWe made a research about the fine dining restaurants in Athens and we found this restaurant. Also we heard some good recommendations from the local people. First of all the welcoming at the entrance was very good. The staff was perfect and fully interested of their job and also the service. But while they started bringing the courses, there was something wrong. In the first plate, they brought us 2 courses together( amberjack tartare and foie gras platter). Secondly we get the langoustine, clams and monkfish platter, the fondant potato under the monkfish was unsalted, but the langoustine was full of salt. The clam was ok. The Faraona salad was my favorite which has guineafowl, heart lettuce, Wagyu Beef Slice and San Mihali cheese inside. At the platter of the Kalkani(TurbotFish) and Risotto we had a disappointment. The turbot fish was really unsalted and so dry, on the other hand the risotto beside the turbot fish was extremely salty( maybe because of the bottarga on the top). By the way we told about this problem to the service staff and they changed our risotto with another risotto which is not included bottarga caviar and the second plate was good. For the main course we had a Beef Fillet platter with potato royal on the side. That was quite good but there was a lot of pepper on it. The desserts were tasty. Finally, The Staff, Atmosphere, And The Service was extraordinarily good but the balance between the kitchen and the service should be improved. Totally 4/5 points from me. Hope to see a better kitchen...
