Sef — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalamata

We had a great meal at Sef in Kalamata – a casual and lively place offering classic Greek street food in a nicely presented, modern way. The menu features a wide variety of souvlaki, pita wraps, salads, and grilled dishes, all served on rustic enamel plates that give a nice touch of authenticity.

The pork souvlaki was grilled to perfection – juicy, tender, and full of flavor, served with golden roasted potatoes, tzatziki, and fresh pita. The Greek salad was crisp and refreshing with a generous piece of feta cheese and just the right amount of olive oil and oregano.

We also tried the chicken sandwich with grilled bread and fresh greens, which was filling and delicious. The fries were thick-cut and homemade – a nice upgrade from the usual fast-food variety. The pita gyros wrap was another hit, stuffed generously with meat, fries, and fresh veggies.

The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere very relaxed – perfect for a casual lunch or dinner. Only minor downside: seating is limited and the space can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but nothing that would ruin the experience.

This place was quite the far walk away from where I was staying in Kalamata, so I only visited the location once - and it was a good experience. But I ate their Gyros once or twice a day, for the week that I was staying in Kalamata. How you ask? Moped delivery I answer. We had Sef on speed dial because they were open late, were very reasonably priced and tasted great. Were they the best tasting Gyros I had in Kalamata because they were the cheapest Gyros you could buy or were they the best Gyros in Kalamata and also happened to be the cheapest ones as well? I am not sure if I can answer that question but I can attest that just thinking of those Gyros with fries in them is making my mouth...

Zo wat een zeer slechte service/bediening zeg. Allereerste de kaart: is alleen in het Grieks. Engelse versie met een qr code maar dan kom je op hun (slechte) online bestelsite.

Met 5 man staan ze er, maar doen erg weinig . Lopen vaak langs maar vragen echt nooit of ze nog iets kunnen betekenen of laat staan dat ze in gaten hebben dat het wel erg lang duurt voor het eten er was. Zowel opnemen bestelling duurde al lang, en ook het serveren ervan. Reden: het bestelapparaat geen connectie maar zelf bedenken dat het ook met met pen en papier kan, komt niet bij hen op en heb ik ze gevraagd. Maar 1 minuut later kwamen ze weer terug voor nogmaals de bestelling, want apparaat deed het weer. na 40minuten maar eens gevraagd waar t eten bleef (let wel gaat om broodje Gyros etc. Geen 5 gangen diner). Ik riep jongen die onze bestelling had opgenomen, stond bij alle anderen, maar had blijkbaar pauze en kon me eigenlijk niet helpen zei die nu... Komt er vast zo aan,zei die. (#hoedan) Maar daarna kwamen ze met mededeling dat er toch iets mis gegaan was bij... De bestelling. Maar de gehele tijd is er nooit iemand bij ons aan tafel gekomen om te vragen of ze iets konden betekenen... Heel bijzonder en slecht. Mij nooit meer daar!
