Souvlakia o Tzimis — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalamata

We found this little restaurant online on TripAdvisor. It was really well rated, so we decided to try it, and let me tell you : it was worth it. It was so good that we came back a second time the day after.

The restaurant is located on a small public plaza near a busy street with a lot of clothing shops. This tavern isn’t accessible by car, but you can walk easily towards it. Just make sure to have google maps with you : we somewhat had a hard time finding it the first time, because it blends really well with the nearby shops.

Now it’s time to talk about my favourite part of this place (even though the decorations are beautiful), the food. For what you are paying, it is an absolute steal. The quality of the food was exceptional and the service was great. It just takes a little time to order, because the ladies that work there aren’t english speakers. It didn’t bother me at all because they were patient and very welcoming.

Touristic trap, do not fall for it. Honestly, I could give it 2-3 stars but the whole experience was really bad.

Service. Had to wait 40+ minutes for a couple souvlakia with pita. Even when they told us 1-2 minutes it took them another 15. If they had given us a warning when we ordered we would not have waited, this is unprofessional.

Food... Souvlakia pork and chicken where mediocre at best. Overcooked and not juicy at all. Only decent thing where the potatoes.

A great place! We enjoyed both the chicken gyros and the vegetarian gyros, and they were delicious. The food was fresh and generous. The restaurant has seating outside set in an atmospheric old town square. After reading the reviews, we decided it was worth the trip, and we’re so glad we did!
