I have been coming to Kifissia for years and never happened to go to Salumaio: Mea culpa. I can tell you for sure I'll never go to Kifissia again without going back there! The menu is truly eclectic; there's tuna, salmon, a fish of the day, all impeccably prepared. If you don't order tuna because it's so often poorly cooked and dry, order fearlessly at Salumaio; the fish and the vegetables will put a smile on your face! The smoked salmon starter is excellent; you can try it with lemon or horseradish, lettuce cups or blinis; it's all there, and it's all great. There's chicken, pasta, meats, terrific salads, many starter and dessert options; anyone can find something they like. The service matches the food; my server even remembered what I'd ordered the previous week on only my second visit, and had recommendations. I should've ordered everything, and will in good time. Reservations are a very good idea, whether you want to sit outdoors, in a cosy, green oasis, or the wonderful indoor patio. The atmosphere is vibrant with an elegant buzz, the food is good, there is attention to detail and overall refinement. Good as a regular, assuming you can get a reservation. Which brings us to the minus: - one point for practically never having a table, even if you phone ahead, even when there are several visible vacancies (this will remain a mystery), moreover being utterly unapologetic about it.
