TO AVOID AT ALL COST. We have been there 3 times and let me tell about all of them. My personal experience. The prices are ok. Small cola 3.3 big cradted beer 6.5 and is ok. For me is ok. Any price for me is ok. So, first time it was just a pit stop we took our drinks from the bar and left immediately. Second time when we came the girl in the bar asked if we drink inside and we have confirmed. Thus she told us to sit and her colleagues will serve the drinks. So, we sat down and after several minutes a guy came asking if we are waiting for something. We told yes, we wanna beer and he told us that we can pick up it by ourselves from the bar. I told him that the girl in the bar just told the opposite so its better them to decide between them who serves. He immediately left and brought us the drinks. Third time was the worst in my life. To make it more clear for you to understand I will share some of my past. I used to eat in restaurants everyday as breakfast dinner and supper for several years. Never ate at home. Thus, I have been in thousands restaurants all over the world in 71 country. So, when we came to this bar 3rd time. We ordered beer and cola. Normally when there are 2 people the servant always ask who ordered what to put it in front of you. This is very usual and normal situation. Once you answer you are served and the waiter disappears. But it was fisrt time in my long life when waiter came (a fat guy in black tshort –most probably the son of the owner who is old woman that always sit on the last table. There are also her daughter who works in the kitchen. I know it as my greek is sufficient to understand it.) So, waiter asked whos is beer and whos cola. I told him beer for my friend and cola for me. Then he answered No cola is for me. I told him no is for me. He answered no I want it. So, I told him he can drink it if he pays and bring me another one. His face expression has changed from smiley to upset. So he put my cola and disappeared. What ever it was a joke or not. He already disrupted a highly intellectual conversion I had with my friend and created unnecessary tensions were I had to argue. Because if he thinks he can be arrogant I swear with my life I am the worst person on this planet once I am right. He ruined our impression and this was the last time we came there. Other bars have earned their money. Some of them have been visited 20 times. So, don’t be rude don’t speak if nobody asks you as all of you are easily replicable. we even wondered with my friend as this waitress then served two old Germans if he tried the water from their bottle after he leaked them it to their glasses. May be he even asks to try dishes people eat cause he wants them too. Ye, 120-150 kilos requires a lot of eating and keeping constant level of sugar in the blood but I am not paying for it. I have already invested in my holiday too much. sorry man, but you love towards cola and inability to buy it is just your problem. Work harder and enjoy it. At least you are local so you don’t need to pay for flights and...
Read moreWe had never been to Falasarna before, but after some online research, we chose Alea Bar, a family-run beach restaurant and bar, for our pre-wedding dinner. With stunning views of the sunset at the beach, and a reputation for excellent service, it seemed like the perfect choice. Our expectations were not only met but exceeded in every way!
Before we arrived, I had the pleasure of communicating with the amazing Vagelis to arrange our menu and catering options. We did this only 3 weeks before the event. He was incredibly helpful at every step, especially considering we were not Greek and that we were coordinating everything via email. His professionalism and attention to detail set a positive tone for our entire experience.
When we arrived at Alea, the team welcomed us warmly. Thanks to Vagelis, Antonis, Andi, Kristi, Stella, Fotini, Anna, and the lovely owner, Manolis. They were kind, attentive, and very friendly, making us feel right at home. For our dinner, we had close to 40 guests, and Alea hosted an amazing buffet with tailored wines and beer. The spread was abundant, and every dish was absolutely delicious. The team ensured that all our guests were well taken care of, and their hospitality shone through every moment.
Our wedding and dinner took place at the end of a 10-day trip, during which we frequently visited Alea for everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each meal was a delight, showcasing the culinary talents of Chef Anna and her team. The calamari, wrapped feta, seafood pastas and salads were some favourites!
We had the opportunity to get to know the staff, who are all lovely people, always ready to go above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The kindness and hospitality shown by Vagelis and the entire Alea team played a significant role in making our holiday and wedding unforgettable. We couldn't have asked for a better place to share such a special occasion. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our friends and family—everyone absolutely loved Alea.
If you're ever in Falasarna, Alea Bar is a must-visit. Whether for a casual meal or a special event, you can expect outstanding food, breathtaking views, and service that makes you feel like part of the family. We are forever grateful for the beautiful...
Read moreAs someone who works in the service industry as well, I really can't praise this restaurant enough, because it has satisfied all my criteria on how you should treat your customer. I ate here two nights in the row and got the sea bream each time. I thought maybe the first time was a fluke but both times the fish was cooked to perfection. The potatoes and the vegetables that came with the fish were also delicious. The waiting time was short as well. At the end of the meal I was also given complimentary raki called tsikoudia here on Crete with some watermelon slices and the combination was surprisingly good. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, especially Rubini, I apologize if I misspelled the name, but she was amazing and even remembered the second night that I needed some extra lemon for my fish. The views, with the beautiful sunset, are really the cherry on the top that makes this one of the best restaurants I had the...
