Golden Sunset Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Kissamos

A truly lovely family taverna right on the fantastic Falassarna beach. It’s simple, authentic, and beautifully Greek – the whole family welcomes you, even the grandmother, who takes such pride in her cooking that she asked us twice if we enjoyed the food. It reminded me of my own mother and grandmother – that Mediterranean magic where food is love.

If you’re visiting in high season, better to book, especially for sunset – it is pure enchantment. The food is genuine, hearty, and full of soul. The house wine? Surprisingly good. Prices are fair considering the fresh ingredients, the view, and the warm welcome.

We were here last year, amazed by the local cuisine by Mrs. Maria. We tried meals from daily menu, really delicious. And the view is just as amazing. This year, we went there intently and were really disappointed. The daily menu was mainly composed of stuffed vegetables (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, we just wanted something else) so we decided to order something from the menu. 3 of 4 meals were almost non-edible. If you think that there's nothing to screw up with salads, you were wrong. The dressing was so sour it was hard to eat it. I had to order from the daily menu if I didn't want to starve. There were too many negative things to recommend this place. Here are some: as others have said, a lot of dishes on the me u are just not available. Out of maybe 20 dishes on 2 pages only 2 were available I ordered an available dish from another page and the waiter returned back later to let me know that this one actually wasn’t available either we waited 30+ min for the food to arrive they mixed up the order for one dish and had to change it the pork steak was tough - overcooked when settling the bill the waiter brought it but didn’t return until I walked into the restaurant after 10min of waiting only to find him eat in a corner.
