Chrisovoulo Cafe Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Monemvasia

We have chosen this restaurant with my husband for a very special celebration dinner. So we called, booked a nice table for 2 and arrived to the restaurant at around 8 pm. To start with, the view was astonishing. You can see the whole village and the first thing you want to do is to make a picture of that beauty. It really helped that we came when it was still day light though, as after about an hour one wouldn't be able to see much in the dark. So if you are after a nice view, make sure you arrange for your dinner a bit earlier 😉 It is very cozy and well designed place, the waiter was very polite and helpful, it really felt that the people working there cared about your experience. All the dishes arrived in a proper time and order, so we just sit back, relaxed and enjoyed every moment of that evening. Now about the food. It was absolutely amazing! It was soooo delicious and yummy that it was impossible to leave a piece on the plate behind! We ordered a cray fish rolls wrapped in phylo on the bed of extremely tasty tarama sauce... omg. That was just unbelievably good! I would recommend it as a mandatory starter for everyone! In fact, I would take it as a main course only for myself. Double sized of course 🤩 I also had a seafood risotto. The portion was quite big, and the taste of it was above the sky! Really there is nothing I might find in any way wrong with this restaurant. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and unforgettable experience. About the price range, in my personal opinion, it was absolutely worth the money. This is a nice restaurant indeed, there is a terrace with a view to the lower part of the castle town and the sea. We booked to celebrate the birthday of a friend. The service is really good and some of the food was also good but in our case 3 of the dishes (same type) we ordered had a definite problem. The lady who served us offered to bring us new but we did not accept, this kind of situation is always awkward... She asked again to offer 2 sweets and we accepted this time because we didn't want to offend her. Other than that, the wine list is definitely good as is the service. I would rate it 4,5 stars if there was no incident and I have to admit that they handled it pretty well, however this shouldn't happen in the first place at this type of restaurants. 3,5 stars, I will probably go again to give it...

Disappointment! Came from the US to experience the beautiful Monemvasia and had a reservation here based on good reviews. Was very disappointed from the entire encounter from arrival to end. Perhaps they were burnt out on tourists but the service was lacking with attentiveness and interest in us. We had to ask for more water , wine and the check. The food was good but seems the chef is really going for creativity rather than optimal food pairing. I ordered sea bass with a beet purée but the beets overpowered the flavors of the fish in my opinion. Good wine selection. No views in the dark but during the day would likely be a wonderful view. Overall would not recommend for the cost and expected level of quality...
