To be avoided. Iâve been visiting Naxos for 20+ years now. This restaurant has a great location, great view of the sea! We booked a table for four and we arrived ten minutes earlier than our reservation. We waited at the entrance for about 10 minutes and since there are no labeled tables for reservations we just picked a random table and sat there. This table had 6 chairs and next to it was an exact same table. The only waiter came and said that we had to move from there as this table is reserved for a group, we argued with her as we didnât like the table she wanted as to move to. I told her that we could move to a table at the front or the one next to where we were. She denied that and just left. We stood up and moved to another table at the front and asked for the manager. The manager came with an arrogant tone and asked me how many chairs the other table had and I replied six he then asked me why we sat there , what a clown behavior⊠the table for four he said is the one that has four chairs, tell me now mr manager how are we supposed to fit there with all the plates and bottles⊠what a disgraceful behavior, never ever coming back. Food is also below average, i ordered a medium steak and it was really hard, I had asked the manager when he took the order if the steak was good and he replied âi donât knowâ well if he doesnât know what he is serving to the customers that...
Read moreWe stayed across the road from Kontos for 5 days, unfortunately I got a little bit of the man flu and some sun burn, unfortunately my time in Naxos was not super fun. What WAS fantastic though was Kontos Taverna. I ate here for 3 dinners and my partner ate here for 4 dinners. Unfortunately I missed the 4th dinner because I got a horrible bout of hell's itch (look it up) from the sunburn. Anyway that aside the food here was amazing, the staff super lovely and efficient. The argument could be made that I didn't eat elsewhere (we did eat at Rotonda, nive view but food wasn't great). What makes my recommendation valid is because I've been a chef for the past 25 years and I definitely know delicious food, Kontos has delicious food. We ate pork, chicken, lamb, octopus orzo and of course mousaka. The only thing I'd say is the mousaka needed a tiny touch more seasoning. All in all if/when I come back to revisit the islands I'd 100% come back here, all the food we had was fantastic and service was super friendly. Of all the restaurants on Naxos you'd the reader should come give...
Read moreWent here for the views but we went late afternoon so the sun was still burning hot. The restaurant had the sun shades covering the views but we were able to get the views via the windowsâ which was actually our preference because it was too hot to be in the sun and they didnât have any outdoor fans. This would be a wonderful place to get the views. They brought out a bread basket and a green sauce to put with it. Bread baskets in Naxos are not complimentary like what we would have in the US; weâve generally seen the cost to be between 1.5 - 2 euros per person at the table and we noticed that the restaurants in Naxos donât ask you first whether you want the bread. If you donât want the bread, better to tell them as they bring it out otherwise you will be charged. The Saganaki was delicious and would recommend getting it. The gastras pork was a little dry and tough, but the sauce was delicious and I liked the contrast with the figs. The rest of the family thought their dishes were plain tasting. Service was quick...
