When you ask for parmesan and the waiter refuses with, “Sorry, but it’s just not going to happen,” this is when I get up and leave. While I understand they’re trying to maintain a certain level of authenticity (though they’re Greek, not Italian), when I’m paying 35+ EUR for dinner, I expect to enjoy it how I prefer. Their rigid stance—combined with the pretentious and somewhat dismissive attitude—really put me off. This isn’t Rome, where tourists are still often accommodated. This is a small Greek island, and more than that, it’s a roadside restaurant that doesn’t have the ambiance or quality to justify that level of snobbery. The pasta was overcooked, the pizza resembled something you’d get from a fast-food chain, the appetizers were bland (we were served pre-packaged cheese sliced and arranged on a plate), and to top it all off, the prawns in the pasta were clearly frozen, not fresh. I can only assume that the good reviews this place receives are due to tourists who may not know any better when it comes to authentic cuisine. While I respect a restaurant’s desire to uphold cultural norms (and what the waiter didn’t know is that I’m an Italian chef 😂), a bit more flexibility for customer preferences would go a long way. Unfortunately, the quality of the food here simply didn’t match the attitude, I would suggest avoiding this place unless you’re ready for...
Read moreWe went for dinner in a Friday night, the menu came fast but it took a long time to get our order, more than 30 minutes and we had to ask twice to order, the food was okay, the pasta was not al dente and to be fair came fast after we’d finally ordered, maybe even too fast.
They took half our plates and we asked for a dessert menu that never came, they also didn’t come for the rest of the plates, and when we asked the other server for dessert he said he had some options, we ordered 3 tiramisu and he said that they didn’t make much and that he could only give two to us as some other tables might also want, which I found very weird and disrespectful, we still went ahead and said yes as we wanted them, but after waiting for around 20 minutes and not getting them we decided to leave, and the waiter was annoyed when we paid as we left without the desserts...
Read moreI would say this is absolutely our favourite meal in Naxos and possibly in Greece over our two week trip. Our server, I didn't catch his name but was a lovely and positive guy who was dedicated to making us feel truly welcome and enjoy our time there. I can't emphasize enough how much he genuinely went above with his lovely chatting to us. Tried a couple items which were all great, but what really was recommended and stood out is the pizza and pasta. We went for the pizza and shared between three, it was incredibly good. Like an airy base which is incredibly crunchy/crispy and we also opted to split the toppings. Sitting outside near the beach we had a fantastic time, thoroughly recommend this place because you will feel very welcome and...
