Exceptional Naxos Breakfast
Upon entering Melimilon Naxos, I was immediately captivated by the delightful atmosphere that enveloped me like a warm embrace. The ambiance exuded a sense of cozy familiarity, a place where one could escape the chaos of the world and indulge in life's simple pleasures. This charming establishment effortlessly combines the best of Greek hospitality with a touch of rustic elegance, making it the ideal destination for a breakfast experience in Naxos.
The coffee served at Melimilon Naxos is a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication of the baristas. The rich aroma and robust flavor awakened my senses. It was evident that the art of coffee-making is a revered tradition here, and I was grateful to partake in such an experience.
As for the food, words fail to adequately capture the culinary mastery that Melimilon Naxos displays. The menu is a fusion of traditional Greek fare and innovative creations, resulting in a symphony of flavors that dance upon the palate. Each dish is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, using locally sourced ingredients that showcase the region's abundant natural bounty. From the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in the presence of culinary brilliance.
However, the true highlight of my visit was the marlimades—a delightful surprise that elevated my breakfast experience to new heights. The owners, who proudly run this family-owned establishment, have infused their love and passion into every jar of marlimade they produce. These delectable creations are a testament to their dedication to preserving tradition and providing guests with an unforgettable gastronomic adventure. From tangy citrus varieties to luscious berry concoctions, each marlimade held a story, a burst of flavor that captured the essence of Naxos itself.
Melimilon Naxos not only excels in its culinary offerings but also in creating an immersive experience for its patrons. At the end of my meal, I was invited to partake in a delightful game—a marlimade guessing game. It added an element of excitement and intrigue, making the entire dining experience even more memorable. Read moreIt’s an obviously cute ambiance but that is never enough. What we ordered was 0/10. We came here on a recommendation from a waiter thinking they had normal pancakes but instead what we were given was fried flat dough (I’m sure it was just water and flour). We inquired what they meant by crispy pancake prior to ordering and the waitress did not communicate this at all. She could not (or did not want to) give a comparison when we asked if it was hard like a cracker or thin like a crepe when in fact it is just fried dough like you would find as street food in the Caribbean (Johnny Cake). We tried to cancel the order once I logged into their wifi and saw that it actually did look like a cracker and she said they had already made it which wasn’t true because it didn’t come out for another 5-10 minutes. Mind you we ordered drinks that came ~5 minutes AFTER the food. They obviously were forcing this fried water and flour on us when it was clearly not what we wanted. The freddo cappuccino was fine though I doubt you can mess that up. Now reading the reviews I see that this lack of communication is common practice, probably to force you to order and pay for something they know you likely won’t eat. We wasted money and ended up paying 18€ for bananas and greek yogurt/fruit because we did not eat the fried dough. Another waitress asked how the meal was and we told her we didn’t like it and instead of offering something else like any other establishment she just shrugged lol. Not sure why they ask if they’re not going to do anything/don’t care. The original waitress should have been clear as to what we were ordering instead of not explaining when we asked. It was a very strange experience in comparison to everywhere else we ate in Naxos and other parts of Greece. Every other restaurant cares about making sure their customer is satisfied versus this place which did not care one bit. But you live and you learn. Always check Google pictures before going off a recommendation! That was our bad. Proceed...
Read moreWow, wow, wow. This has to be the best breakfast on Naxos.
The menu is quite extensive, so whether you have a small or big appetite, want sweet or savory, there is something for you.
One of us ordered #3 (toast, with 2 of their homemade jams, with naxian cheese and fried eggs). The jams were fantastic and the eggs were delicious, according to my dad.
My husband ordered #17, pancake (which is more similar to a Dutch baby) with white chocolate, Forrest berry jams, and lemon cream. Very good!
I think the guys were jealous of my mom's and I's breakfast #18. No one wanted it to go to waste, because it was so good. The bread is very delicious, it's some sort of fried bread, and very moist and fluffy on the inside. It was cut open and filled with at least two different pork meats, naxian cheese, and one of their vegetable jams. We decided to pay an extra euro for a fried egg on top. It was SO SO Good. Probably one of the five best breakfasts I've ever had.
The staff were sweet, helpful, knew their products, well dressed, and attentive to the guests (we at least didn't need to wave them down).
I would recommend to my friends to come here.
And buy some of their local products, at least a jam! You can also visit their shop in...
