The Square — Restaurant in Municipality of Northern Corfu

Food and service were very good, but being charged €28 for bottle of wine which was recommended to us by the waiter; who suggested we should have a bottle of wine instead of the house wine that we were contemplating, was a total rip off…

We were served served by Pandeli, who told us that instead of the house wine, he would select us a bottle of wine that would be ‘medium priced and NOT expensive…’

But when the bill came, we were charged €28 for the wine. When glancing at the wines on the menu, the most expensive bottle of white wine was in fact €28.

The total bill was €81 for two starters: prawns spring rolls & Saganaki cheese with jam; followed by the Gorgonzola Burger & Lamb shank; and one ice-cream made up of 2 scoops of Ice cream, and the said bottle of wine and a large bottle of water.

We’ve eaten here before, and to be fair, the food is good - but clearly we won’t be back as the trust is gone. Such a shame… Stay away - don’t be charmed...

AVOID AT ANY COST, ASK FOR THE PRINTED BILL!! OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF!!Very bad, they ripped us off. I don't know if it's a Kassiopi thing but we've been ripped off for a second time.. We should have paid 33€ and the bill, which we never saw, because it wasn't printed, was apparently 42€. That's for 2 burgers, a salad, which was mainly rocket, and two beers. Very expensive water and bread which was forced on us. We assumed it would be free. Better to refuse it, or actually, to go elsewhere. Don't let them rip you off. Burgers were not great either,...

During the first week of October 2022, I had three great experiences at The Square Steak & Burger Bar. I arrived in Corfu one evening with a need for lodging, a friendly waiter at The Square gave me great guidance. I promised to return for a late dinner, I did, and had a tasty burger served by that same smiling waiter. Days later, the memory of the first meal lingered. So, I returned for another (there are numerous options), and was pleasantly taken care of by another server before closing. Should I return to Corfu, I'll gladly stop...
