UNCLE SIMOS — Restaurant in Municipality of Northern Corfu

We came here last week as a group of 6 and had a dinner around 9:30pm. The prices were very fair, and the atmosphere was calm, with a lovely view of the harbour.

For food, I had Sea Bass and Mussels - the Sea Bass was absolutely sublime, perfectly cooked, very delicate and no bones at all. The mussels were also very tasty, soft and without any gristle. We also had 2 liters of the house wine which was, again, very tasty.

The staff were friendly and polite, and the food was served very quickly - the male waiter in particular was very pleasant and responded to all our requests.

In terms of downsides, we were stood without acknowledgement for a couple of minutes from the staff upon arrival, and then though they kindly seated us where we asked, it took over 5 minutes for any menus to be brought, and a further 15 after this before anyone came to take a drink order (by which time we ordered our starters and mains too).

In terms of food, the risotto with my sea bass was slightly firm, and the sauce with the mussels would have been nicer to be slightly thicker.

Loved It

We were a group of 8 persons (2 families) in Kassiopi in a Villa in the hills above. It was the birthday of one of our party and so we decided on a late and leisurely lunch. The food options were varied and we all had different plates. I opted for the Lamb Simos, and this was utterly fantastic. One of my daughters had the Rissotto Mare and she absolutely loved it. The feedback from everyone was wholly positive. In fact we spent a good few minutes taking a forkful of everyone's meal. The meal was unhurried and we were concerned as we had gone past the allotted afternoon closing time, only to be informed that only the kitchen had closed and we could stay as long as we wanted. The house wines were very pleasant and a great accompaniment to the meals. We ended up eating twice here and the second occasion lived up to the first.

Based on our experience I have no hesitation in recommending this place. My advice is go for a leisurely afternoon meal and you may well have the place to...

SLOW SLOW SLOW. The service so terribly slow. The food is the only redeeming quality here which got it the second star. One of the starters didn’t come, I asked for this to be removed from the bill. The mains came and were of good quality. When we asked for the bill, it took 20 minutes to arrive. We asked 3 times. When it finally came it was for the wrong table for the wrong amount.
