I am sitting here having finished my meal and I hesitate to write this review because I will always want a table here at Ο Ιταλός. This is my first time and it will not be my last. Luckily, I live two blocks away.
First, the atmosphere is lovely. It is quiet, elegant but not pretentious and the music is stylish jazz and creates a beautiful ambience. I am a solo diner tonight but can’t wait to find a date to bring here. Any men who enjoy a fine Italian dining experience, step to the front!!!
Now the food… I first had the bruschetta and the tomato tapenade was sensational. it was a perfect partner to my own creation of the perfect cocktail…equal parts Hendrick’s Gin and Belvedere Vodka shaken cold! What a way to start my night.
I have never been excited about a burrata salad. However, I can now claim I have had the best burrata salad…ever. The burrata was luxurious and along with the flavorful assorted tomatoes, capers, delicately sliced cucumbers and perfectly toasted croutons, altogether, this is a perfect salad.
The pasta…love on a plate. The pappardelle with assorted mushrooms and speck in a sumptuous delicately balanced sauce is like a warm lingering hug. And these two dishes together were a romantic marriage of tastes that will linger on my palate and in my memory.
Ioanna, my server, was so friendly and generously efficient as was Thanos the owner and barman. As a nice first time welcome treat, I was brought their version of a Tiramisu, not one of my top three desserts I would ever consider to order. I cannot wait to have this again.
This is all to say…don’t rush here!!! I want my table whenever!! Seriously though, do run here with your date, or as a solo diner or with friends. I cannot believe I have this very special restaurant right here in Palaio Faliro. Enjoy!

Read moreSalad was ok, arancini ok also but the 3 pasta dishes we had: one was decent, one was salty, sticky, with 4 sad dry shrimps on the top and the third was just sad, wet and tasteless. Three dry biscuit on a plate with cream and cocoa powder is not a tiramisu and if it is you don’t charge this 11 euro. Three people: one salad, one appetizer, three pasta dishes, one “tiramisu” and three glasses of wine: 96 euro. For this quality of food, sorry but,...
Read moreIt is a very small restaurant in Palaio Faliro, very close to the coastal Poseidonos avenue. A place that would become a cafe or a tiny bar, they dared to make it an Italian restaurant and they deserve congratulations! Very tasty options, fresh and quality ingredients and kind service. The gnocchi and the carbonara stand out. On the plus side, it is also open at noon,...
