Tsipourokatastasi — Restaurant in Municipality of Piraeus

Staying in Piraeus for a few days as a single business traveller I had the chance to look around for a good place to eat. I noticed this restaurant because it was busy with locals and their dishes looked great.

They were super busy on a Saturday evening and the staff were finding extra tables to set up outside. I counted around 80 people dining, but they let me have a table for one (very unusual!). The menu arrived within 5 minutes with bread and a large bottle of water. 5 minutes later I was able to order (Greek salad and grilled prawns with a 1/4 carafe of red wine). 10 minutes later food and wine, amazing service, and the waitresses were continually scanning the tables ready for extra orders, clearing etc. A masterclass in how it should be.

If you’re a seafood lover, Tsipourokatastasi is an absolute must-visit. The food here is simply incredible fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You have to try the gastrovi fish; it’s a standout dish, tender and full of rich, savory flavor. The fried baby squid is another highlight unbelievably soft and delicate, nothing like the usual chewy versions you find elsewhere.

Don’t skip the sides either. The beetroot salad is refreshing and pairs perfectly with the seafood, while the fried zucchini is crispy, golden, and totally addictive. Every dish felt thoughtful and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this...

We really enjoyed this place. The owner brought us inside to see the nice dishes they had prepared for the day. We sat outside on the beach under the stars and enjoyed terrific service. We tried several of the dishes and came away feeling like we'd visited someone's home. The food tasted like homemade. It was obviously made with a lot of love. You don't really expect that on the beach in a tourist area but it was a pleasant surprise.
