Don't like to give a bad review, but this was by far our worse dining experience in 10 days in Crete. We went here because the owner of an apartment we are staying at in Chania highly suggested this restaurant. We went to Falassarna for the day and made this our lunch stop. Seemed perfect but unfortunately it wasn't.
Point 1: Not welcoming. The place wasn't crowded and we sat out back facing a big concrete dock and dirt road with water in the distance. At first, the waitress was nice but wasn't very flexible when we tried to do the menu for 2 (57 euros) and asking for different fish. Then she steered us into way too much food and very expensive dishes. Her colleague was very indifferent who when we asked about one ingredient in the dish said the stock answer for annoying tourists: "mountain herb". We actually did figure out the herb and showed it too him. He wasn't really that interested in the end. The cook walked by us several times and wouldn't engage or acknowledge us even smiling at him. There were 6 people in total, not crowded. Overall, un-welcoming, indifferent service, very unlike what we've experienced elsewhere in Crete. Could have just been the day, but be advised. (Up to this point we've had nothing but positive experiences with restaurant/cafe service.)
Point 2: We walked away with a bill of 107 euros for two! That's like 2 or 3 normal meals elsewhere in Crete. Apparently, the grouper fish cost 40 euros and were were not advised of that cost. Partly our fault, but we still felt blindsided.
Point 3: Price/quality ratio low in our case. Quality was okay, preparations nothing special, so a high price was just not warranted.
Summary: If you are recommended this restaurant and are driving specifically to it from somewhere, consider alternatives. If you are in this town (Kolimpari), look for...

Family operated restaurant with excellent cuisine!
We took place at the harbour-side of the restaurant. Already nice, but then we were lead upstairs to have an even better view of the harbour and sea. There our kids were invited to play with the owners kids and use their toys for entertainment. Where would you get that elsewhere? Fantastic service! Everybody speaks English too and is willing to share the history of the place.
Our lunch started with the famous, filled zucchini blossoms. Which will melt in your mouth! Soft and tender, cooked to perfection!
The Crab's Milfeig was recommend and did not disappoint. Countless flavours combined in such a pretty dish! Get it, if you have the chance!
The octopus comes in various preparations. We went for the sun-dried BBQ version, which was also recommended. Did work out too! A bit more chewy than regular, but massive taste! Even the kids inhaled it.
Sadly the Tzatziki arrived after we already finished most of our meal..... can happen. It won't affect the full 5 stars. We took it home and had it at dinner :)
As a complimentary desert, they presented us the most tasty melon pieces. And we even got a handpainted stone as a gift. How amazing is that?
White house wine was very good to fit the meal. But if you wanna stay away from the booze, you HAVE to try their homemade lemonade. I'm tempted to go there tomorrow again, just for their lemonade. Sooooooo good!
Wish we had more days to eat through their...
Read moreVery far from the good experience in Crete, which is very rarely happens in Crete actually.. Initially it started really nice, hostess was very welcoming us and we sat inside. We have got menu and then we to wait for about 20 mins. Then I asked waiter to take the order, she said the other waiter is coming... Another waiting for 10 mins, no reaction. I asked again, finally we had a discussion and then we asked about the fish of the day, they said that someone will come and explain. A man arrived some minutes after, but he didn't speak English normally.. Then I asked again hostess about the fish and we've been showed the fresh fish in the fridge and finally got one selected. We asked for a salad with shrimps - it was below average, just lot of a bitter plants(smth looking like rukola, but bitter) and just a few shrimps inside. Dressing was very sour, I didn't like this, maybe some people does. Fish was cooked very interesting, dressed inside with something from vegetables, rice and herbs, we enjoyed. So I gave 3 stars, I believe this place is not bad, just some improvement is needed. Meal was OK, fish was really good, however bad service and ignorance ruined everything. At least staff was polite, but just lazy, except the hostess, so...
