En Elladi captures the essence of traditional Greek charm with its serene and inviting atmosphere. The decor beautifully blends rustic elements with modern touches, creating a warm and cozy environment. The restaurant was spotless, with tables neatly arranged and the overall space well-maintained.
Service: The service at En Elladi was exceptional from start to finish.Christina and Alban , greeted us with a friendly smile and made us feel welcome immediately. His extensive knowledge of the menu and local ingredients was impressive, and they recommendations were spot on. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Our meals arrived promptly, and Christina checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed.
Food and Drinks: The culinary experience at En Elladi was nothing short of extraordinary. We began our meal with a selection of traditional Greek mezes, including tzatziki, olives and zucchini balls . Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. The tzatziki was creamy and refreshing, while the zucchini balls had a perfect balance of crispy exterior and gooey interior.
For the main course, we indulged in the shrimps spaghetti and the grilled seafood platter. The grilled octopus was a masterpiece. The seafood platter featured an array of fresh, perfectly cooked shrimp all seasoned to perfection..
The wine selection was extensive, and we chose a local white wine that paired beautifully with our meal. For dessert, we couldn't resist the traditional sweetness mad from goat milk, which was light, flaky, and drizzled with just the right amount of honey.
Value for Money: En Elladi offers incredible value for money. The quality and quantity of the food, combined with the outstanding service and delightful ambiance, make it well worth every euro. Portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable given the high standard of the dining experience.
Overall Experience: En Elladi provided one of the best dining experiences we've had in Crete. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and charming atmosphere made our visit truly memorable. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking authentic Greek cuisine and a warm, welcoming environment. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Crete! We love you Christina and Alban!...
Read moreFirst of all when we got inside it took my breath away because I didn't realise the restaurant is right on the edge of the sea! You literally dine on the beach! It is a family run place. One of the sons is a chef here and let me tell you, he's a good one. We've chosen a fresh lobster (from a drawer with different fish & seafood!) which has been grilled for us and served with some sort of local veg, which name I can't remember but it was very tasty. The lobster was the best I've ever had. The other favourite of mine will be the starter - octopus salad. It was so good it's unbelievable...it was served warm first of all and it was so tender, full of flavor, we've been told is boiled first and then cooked with carrots and herbs in the local olive oil. I loved it. And then the dessert, which I was not supposed to have at all but they brought us a piece of orange cake to try and it must be seriously the best orange cake I've ever tasted! It was light and fluffy and not too sweet (like the rest that I've tried in Crete) even now when I think about it my mouth is watering! They also do a homemade rose liquor, which we tasted as a digestive at the end and I really enjoyed it (since I don't like grappa and most spirits), it was flavoursome and of the right strength and not too sweet, I'm going to buy a bottle of this before we go back home. I can't recommend it enough, I will...
Read moreWith all my respect ... but just an average tourist place, sorry. Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives in Kolymbari.
Menu looked promising, so we hit the shot.
Crete-typical dakos: If we haven't had better before (just a few steps away from this place), I would have never ordered them again. But as we knew from two days ago: they CAN taste fantastic and we absolutely love those. But not these.... A sprinkle of olive oil could have helped, maybe. But as a lack of oil dispensers.... it didn't happen.
The mussels and vongole: starter size is alright, but too many of dead (closed) shells. Sauce was tasty, but bread or spoons were missing, so .... can't have it.
Yes, I could have asked for things. But the waiters were very reserved and obviously "just" employees. Not very keen on the famous greek hospitality. I just didn't bother to ask them for each and every thing.
Retsina: also had better. We didn't finish it. Iced tea is good (Lipton).
Soup: ...says on the board to ask for it. But they didn't have any or didn't want to understand soupa/zomos/soup/.....
Complementary desert: two scoops of very creamy yoghurt with sauce - for the four of us....
All in all: I would walk a few more steps and be better off, with the...
