Disappointing Experience – Poor Service, Safety Concerns, and Unequal Treatment
I booked a room directly through the hotel’s official website, selecting their advertised all-inclusive package with a garden view. Less than 24 hours before check-in, I received an email saying my reservation had been cancelled and that I’d been moved to another hotel. While they claimed the new hotel had a better view, I booked this property specifically to stay with friends who were already there. I called to explain this, but the staff insisted the new location was just a 2-minute drive or a 15-minute walk — neither of which were true. My friends went to the reception on my behalf (as I was still abroad for work), and they were told the new hotel was actually 3 miles away and that my short stay “didn’t matter.” The overall attitude was dismissive and made it clear I was not a priority to them. Thankfully, my friends managed to get the room reinstated, but the message was clear: short-stay guests are treated as disposable during high season.
When I arrived, the restaurant and bar staff were friendly, but unfortunately the rest of my experience was unacceptable. I got stuck in the lift twice. The first time, the electricity went out — I was inside with no light, pressing all buttons, and the door wouldn't open. When staff finally got me out, I was blamed for not opening the door myself — absurd given there was no power. The second time, the lift malfunctioned again, descending but failing to open. A maintenance worker had to pry open the doors, and the lift was not level with the floor. He was clearly aware something was wrong, yet no sign or warning was posted. When I raised this at checkout, I was told, “if the maintenance man is there, we’re aware of it,” as if that excuses the risk to other guests. This is a serious safety issue.
I was also told to leave the bathrobe and beach towel on the floor to have them replaced. I followed instructions, but no replacements were provided. When I asked, reception said if I’d done so, I would’ve received fresh ones — but I had. Then they claimed they’d run out and would deliver them later, which was no help since I was already at the pool. I returned later in the afternoon — still nothing.
On day one, the toilet in my room was broken and wouldn’t stop flushing. I reported it and it was eventually fixed. The hotel left a fruit basket and red wine as compensation, but as I had an all-inclusive package, this felt like a meaningless gesture.
We also asked the night before about booking a taxi into town for five people. We were told it wasn’t necessary to book in advance — just call and it would arrive within 10 minutes. The next day, we called and were told 15 minutes, which seemed fine — but we ended up waiting 30 minutes more. When we checked with reception, we were told the taxi was far away due to traffic. If that was expected, we should’ve been informed the night before, and we could’ve made proper arrangements.
Most disappointing of all was the clear difference in how I was treated compared to my friends — who booked through an agency. They received goodbye gifts like herbs and soaps. I, who booked directly through the hotel’s own website (at full listed price), received nothing. Yes, I booked the lowest-priced garden view room, but I didn’t expect to be treated like the least valued guest.
In summary, my stay was filled with avoidable issues, poor communication, safety concerns, and a general feeling of being unwelcome. While some staff were kind, the overall experience left me feeling frustrated, ignored, and disrespected. I will not return and cannot recommend this...
Read moreThis hotel is superb in every way, best I've stayed in yet. It is spotless and well maintained. I'm still here while typing
The staff are so friendly, very helpful for our every need, they really care in you enjoying your holiday as much as possible. Anything you need, just ask or talk about it, they will literally do all they can.
Pools are clean, cool, it is early May, so understandable.
The sun loungers are wooden, beautifully comfortable and are slightly higher off the ground. There are enough to go around far as I'm aware with extras
Certain rooms have their own sun lounger outside the room and some with a pool shared amongst just a few rooms, giving that exclusive calm, tranquil feel, to be honest that's everywhere around the hotel, it comes at an extra cost, as did our room for a double sea view room.
The food outstanding in my opinion, the cooked English breakfast wasn't for me, but that's often the case, always plenty of alternatives. Evening meals vary with more choice than other hotels we've been too, (with chips everyday, and potato style foods as an additional extra most days)
Highly recommend all the food as all is made from scratch using locally sourced ingredients, apart from some of the breakfast, I particularly enjoyed the fresh salads, pasta and pasta sauces and meatball dishes cooked in sauce.
I asked the waiter for the pasta sauce recipe which was personally written and handed to me by the chef, giving me the opportunity to thank him and his team for such amazing food.
The cocktails and all drinks are gorgeous, wine is local and delicious. Sometimes there is a wait for drinks in the evening indoor bar, it didn't bother us as we found plenty of people to chat to while we waited.
The beach is stoney, there's a lovely walk to town which is lovely. The views are stunning, this really is a true hidden gem away from any hustle or hassle!
We chose this hotel as the evening entertainment is only once every few evenings, as this means people chat more, and in a calm happy chilled way from my experience. It feels very special here, and most other visitors as wanting the same experience.
Theres some beautiful walks, and local tevernas outside the hotel, it really is tucked in a stunning location.
The Jet2 rep is amazing, with amazing trips, Knossos is a long way to go, perhaps better arrange own way there, or do an overnight trip to soak up the area too.
There are three other sister hotels that can be enjoyed, depending on your package as to what you can use.
Massages are the best, the gym is okay.
If we'd known about the all inclusive extra or plus we'd order it at time of booking, it seems worth the extra from what I hear.
If you're wanting Greek feel, Greek food, luxury, lovely staff, amazing views, a clean calm place, this may be the place for you.
If you like to be entertained, loud music, noise due to lots going on this hotel may not suit you
As others mentioned, we had food plus fruit bowl and wine in our room on arrival which was welcomed as we too arrived in early hours.
Definitely best hotel with best staff we've experienced. It was booked it through Ollie via Travel counsellors
The only downside is we have to go home in a few days time. We do get to use all fascitilites before we leave which is a nice touch to...
Read moreRight... where to start with this review... I travel a lot for work all over the world and spend nearly 150 nights per year sleeping in hotels so I'd say I have a pretty good comparison! When booking make sure you select the room with the private pool and the sea view even if your travel agent says it's paid extra - believe me it's well worth it. We stayed in room 207 and we loved it ( 208, 209 and 2010 are also great ) or stay in the beach front apartments ( not available apparently if you're polish LOL these are reserved for the tourists from western countries and since Poland is still classified as 7th world country, no chance to even select any of these rooms at the booking stage ). Now :
Just to summarize - hotel is awesome, very discreet and quiet, tranquility at its finest, the views are brilliant, not many hotels are located directly at the beach and this is really something, great food and drinks, lovely and helpful people. What else you might want from a holiday ? We are totally happy and can't recommend the...
