Sunrise Restaurant Beach Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Platanias

The Sunrise Beach Restaurant was one of the highlights of our 10-day-trip to Crete! We stayed at the Minoa at Platanias, and this family restaurant was right beside. We dined here most nights: food was amazing, plentiful portions, best playlist, value for money, and great sunsets and vibes. Andreas (the owner), his wife (the amazing cook), Aleks and Stella gave us the best service ever, what a friendly bunch! We did dine at other 2 places, but one we regretted, and the other just didn't have the same vibe. On the last evening, we were booked to dine at the Galazio, but decided to trade the exquisite boredom for the simple fun :D For that food quality and friendliness, you just want to keep coming over and over.

The garlic "pizza", the Tzatziki and the Seafood platter for 2 were our favourites.

Caution: the more you get to know Andreas, the harder it is to leave, as the complimentary rounds of Raki keep...

We stumbled across this restaurant as it was next to the hotel we were staying at (Minoa Palace resort) we ended up returning every night until our holiday was over.

The staff are more than welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing along with the generous portions! Our children who are fussy eaters, loved this restaurant as there is an area for children to play and as well as the beach.

The ambience and the rustic feel along with the views are breathtaking as you indulge on your meal.

The staff and the owner's attentiveness and attention to detail makes Sunrise restaurant standout to any other restaurant.

We cannot praise and thank them enough for their hospitality.

We recommend anyone to visit if in the area.

First visit - random visit on a walk exploring the town, looking for a simple lunch.

Simple food done well is hard, simple food done perfectly is exceptional and we got that in spades - Cretan salad and omelette were both perfect. That led directly to visit 2.

So, a moussaka and mixed skewers - again simple food, again perfect. As a chef with 25 years experience the moussaka was exceptional.. the flavours all worked with nothing dominating, and the texture was perfect.. and with a setting as shown in the photo.. who wouldn't want to come here??

I will return again before I go home, and will definitely return here next time I...
