bad experience really. I've ordered the Cream of white fish roe salad With crispy tortillas and the waiter told me I needed to order bread with it (with a charge). I said "why? and the tortillas?". Well, he was right, it was a big bowl of fish cream with 4 small tortillas. It was extremely salty, so I only finished the 4 tortillas and left all there. No intention to make a fuss, just told the waiter it was salty and he said "did you try without the tortillas?". Well, maybe it was less salty, but the dish is cream and tortillas, the combination needs to work, it can't be that salty! I then had the SeaBream and it was good. I was feeling still hungry because I couldn't eat the starter so I've ordered fried squid. They were ok, but lacked taste and quite oily. Couldn't finish that either, too heavy. Again, didn't want to say anything cause he had already make me feel bad the first time: "all fine?", "yes ok", "you don't seem convinced..", "they were ok but seemed frozen and were a bit oily", "well it's fried.. maybe you should have ordered something grilled". AHAHAHAH, like it's not the billionth time I order fried calamari! I said "sorry, maybe you think I'm that kind of customer but I assure you I'm not". I'm definitely not. Paid the bill and left tips (despite I hadn't eaten the starter and was forced to order a second main.. no discount, all in the bill). I was probably unlucky but not sure why they have such a high rate really, food was average and wine expensive (and obviously the waiter didn't have the...
Read moreThe first time I visited this restaurant, I really enjoyed the food – it was delicious and well-prepared, and I was sure I’d come again. So, the second time, I specifically chose to return.
When I arrived, they told me there were no seats available downstairs, but there were upstairs. I hesitated for a moment and said I’d come back to check again later. At that point, I already felt that the female staff member’s attitude wasn’t very welcoming.
Still, I really liked the food, so I decided to return. When I came back a short while later, I was told that a spot downstairs had just been taken, and once again, only upstairs was available. I had already made peace with sitting upstairs – even if the view wasn’t great – because I genuinely liked the food.
However, both I and the person I was with clearly felt very unwelcome. It was obvious that the staff didn’t want us to dine there. There were three people at the front desk and two servers – one of them was the same woman from earlier, and the other was a man. The whole atmosphere felt uncomfortable and dismissive.
Maybe it was because they were expecting a large group of 17 guests to arrive downstairs in 20 minutes – but regardless of the reason, the attitude was unpleasant. It left us feeling deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Sadly, despite the good food, I don’t plan to return to this...
Read moreBooked the rooftop area of this restaurant for dinner with my husband after doing some research. It was a windy night so the rooftop wasnt as good as it could have been, but that was no problem for us. Service was slow, but pleasant and our starters were nice - beetroot salad and smoked salmon bruscheta. However the main courses were so poor that neither of us managed to eat more than half. My prawn linguine had an unpleasant aftertaste and some of the prawns hadnt been cleaned properly. My husband's 'black pig' chops were as tough and dry as shoe leather, he couldnt get his knife through them. When we got our bill we told the server we hadnt enjoyed our mains and he aggressively asked 'why?' We explained and he basically said pork is always tough and the pasta is one of their best sellers. Then said we weren't getting any money off, which we hadn't asked for, but would have been a nice gesture. We asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager. I said we had booked with them because of reviews on social media and he said he didn't care about social media, it was nothing to them and he didn't care if we wrote a negative review. So be warned folks - arrogant management...
