Great view & spacious. I wanted to love this place, but I couldn't...||We arrived after the check-in reception hours. The guy from the market downstairs gave us our room keys and told us they would come in a half hour to check us in. After an hour, no one showed up, so we left to get dinner. No one ever came to greet us or check us in. No one came to check us out, either... ||The bathroom: the shower takes a while for the water to warm up. The shower head has hard water lime scale deposits on it. The shower is tight/narrow, making it hard to move around inside. The outlet in the bathroom is coming off the wall and probably is a hazard. The toilet seat cover doesn't stay up on its own. So, it's always leaning on you if you use the toilet sitting down or you're always holding it up with one hand if you use the toilet standing up. The hair dryer is broken and only turns off by unplugging it from the outlet.||The bedroom: the space is a loft, so the bed is on the second floor. The A/C points to the first floor, so the second floor is significantly warmer than the first floor. Comfortable bed. ||The balcony: great view of the light house. It's small, but fits a table and two chairs. One of the doors leading out to the balcony wouldn't stay open, so we had to wedge something under the door so it would stay open. ||Other things: there's about 20 steps that lead from the front door to your room, so be prepared to carry your luggage up... wi-fi is weak in most of the space. You can't really use the wi-fi at all if you're on the balcony... you're given a large bottle of water upon arrival... the kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, dish washer and fridge... there's an iron and ironing board... there's a lot of outlets for plugging stuff in... one of the nights (Monday night) bar/club music could be heard playing until at least 3am. It was so loud, I could hear the base through ear plugs and a pillow...
Read moreWe stayed in a fantastic room in Porto Enetiko suites in Rethymnon. Whilst the room did not have a room number, but a name on the door which I can't recall, it was on the harbour side and was the centre unit with the large balcony. We stayed for 3 nights and just loved the location and the apartment itself. It had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the views from the balcony whilst enjoying an afternoon tipple were simply stunning. Our apartment was supplied with fresh towels and linen everyday by the lady who works onsite during the day from a small office. When we checked in we requested an additional room key card and Nick, the owner, said he did not have one as previous guests had lost it. He said that he would try and get another one, and true to his word, he had a new spare key card to us within a very short period. The balcony in our unit had a marvellous view out over the harbour and numerous waterside restaurants, and we could almost smell the beautiful food being served to diners at the restaurants below our balcony. There is a well stocked grocery store very close by as well as a convenience store adjacent to Porto Enetiko, which Nick said was part of his business. Whilst we did not buy food at the convenience store, we did buy a number of cans of beer there (a number means more than I am willing to own up to) as it was icy cold and very reasonably priced. Our first night we were awoken by the nightclub located further around the harbour behind the restaurants. It was after midnight when the onset of thumping, headbanging music arrived in our room, but we had ear plugs to use, so this was not an issue at all for us. We simply loved our stay at Porto Enetiko Suites, and Nick and his staff certainly looked after us. In conclusion, like Arnie,...
Read moreThe best things about this property was:|- the location! It literally couldn’t be better! Right in Old Town Rethymno, with easy access to everything!|- the view! Spend a little extra to get an apartment with an amazing view of the Venetian harbor, you won’t regret it!|- the staff! Nektarios and his staff are wonderful warm and always professional. We enjoyed talking to them any chance we got!||The apartment we rented was spacious and open, with a good use of space. It included a kitchen with a dishwasher and refrigerator. A cloths washer was located right under the stairs! That was super handy to have. The addition of two full toilets and showers was also wonderful and convenient when traveling with teens! It’s such a beautiful property, I can’t recommend it highly enough!||Our favorite thing to do each night was to sit on the balcony, soaking up the amazing view and drink local wine. Absolutely the relaxing stay we needed! ||My only complaint was that our holiday came to an end and we had to depart. We will definitely book a room with Porto Enetiko...
