We sat down for a coffee this morning and noticed a flyer on the table stating that all coffees and orange juice were €2.50. We arrived around 10 AM and waited quite a while without anyone approaching us, until I finally spoke to a young man who seemed more concerned with arranging tables in a half-empty restaurant than serving new guests waiting to order (us). When I asked if we could place an order, he didn’t even come to our table, and responded quite rudely as if I had interrupted him. I pointed to the flyer and ordered two coffees and two fresh orange juices. When the drinks were brought to us, the waitress also brought the bill – and at the same time, she removed the flyer from our table (even though other tables still had it visible). We saw that the bill was €17, even though we expected to pay €10. We even took a flyer from a nearby table to double-check what we had read. Later, when we asked about the discrepancy while paying, the waitress – in very broken English – tried to explain that the prices applied only during breakfast time, but couldn’t answer our question: “How are we supposed to know that if it’s not written anywhere?” The waiter we initially ordered from didn’t bother to clarify that the prices on the flyer were allegedly only valid during breakfast, despite clearly seeing me refer to them. Again – how were we supposed to know that if it’s not written anywhere? We paid the full bill but left feeling very disappointed. By far the worst experience of our holiday in Crete. And to be clear – it’s not about a few extra euros. It’s about the lack of clear information and the poor attitude toward guests.

Caution, the staff on the beach is swindling and trying to take extra money from you. In the information on the beach it is written that the set of sun beds and an umbrella costs 6 euros. The first time (three days ago), a man with a beard demanded 12 euros from us for one set, because we were 4 people, although we asked only one set. And nowhere is not specified that we must pay for the number of people. Today he tried to take extra money for a chair that stood in a set with the sun beds. When I went to look for a manager, a man the bar, began to prove that I have to pay for a chair, since we are three people. They have no information about the cost of the chair or anything about have many people is maximum for a set of sunbeds. When I asked why there isn't written anything about the extra charges, he said that it's not obligated to write about the extra charges that they have. It is very bad service when you come as a client and want to use their sunbeds for 6 euros, and each time there is some sort of charging that isn't written anywhere. This is the only place we have visited that base their price for sunbeds on how many people you are. The real manager of the hotel should be informed how his employees make an additional earning.

Vi har spist her mest fordi vi har benyttet oss av stranden rett nedenfor, tilhørende samme strandbar, da dette var det første og «beste» stedet ved stranden vi fant da vi gikk ned mot sjøen fra hotellet vårt. På stranden er det en gammel mann som tar betalt, og han er IKKE NOE HYGGELIG!!! Utrolig at det går an å være så frekk, uhøflig og lite imøtekommende. For 3 personer på første rekke har vi daglig i 7 dager betalt 20 euro. Vi har lagt igjen flere hundre euro på både stranda og strandbaren, og ikke engang ett hei eller et smil kommer fra mannen på stranda. Han står nærmest over deg for å ta betalt for solsenga i det du setter deg ned, og blir irritert hvis man spør om kvittering for leie av strandstoler. I dag hvor det var rødt flagg på stranda la vi oss på vår vanlige plass med 2 solsenger med madrass på første rekke, og flyttet 1 solseng til vår datter fra rad nr. 2, som har litt «lavere» standard enn den fremste raden med solsenger. Dette har vi gjort flere dager, ellers har vi 2 dager hentet fra en bunke med solsenger de har øverst ved inngangen til stranda. Kun 1 dag har mannen på stranda vært behjelpelig med å bære solseng ned til oss. I dag var det ingen betjening på stranden da vi kom, men ca. 30 min kom mannen og fikk 20 euro i betaling. 1 time etter dette kommer han mot oss og begynner å peke, uten å si noe, og til slutt oppfatter jeg det som at vi har tatt feil solseng, slik at vår datter må bytte og flytte både håndkle og ting over til en annen solseng, av typen som står øverst. I dag har det blåst mye og er derfor få personer på stranda, men akkurat i dag var det plutselig krise at vi hadde tatt en solseng fra rad 2, istedenfor å hente en helt lik helt øverst på stranda. Da kunne han heller ha plassert en slik på rad 2, eller bemerket dette da han tok betaling. Denne gamle mannen går også rundt i restauranten og ved bassengområdet. I dag observerte vi at han kjeftet på er barn som er i 10-11 års alderen ved bassenget tilhørende Marino’s beach hotel som ligger ved Manolos sunrise snack bar, for at barnet ikke hadde foreldrene oppå seg. Den gamle mannen med stråhatt skaper en uhyggelig stemning og burde lært seg å være høflig og hyggelig. Vi kommer resten av ferien til å finne oss et annet sted å sole oss og spise. Vi har brukt nesten 1000 euro på dette stedet de siste dagene, og ville absolutt forventet bedre service!

Grei strandbar og restaurant, fin strand med dyre solsenger og 1 uhøflig ansatt trekker ned hele opplevelsen. Vi har spist lunsj her så og si hver dag i en uke.
