This gorgeous little aparthotel was a perfect find for us. Very pretty with white walls and blue shutters, sitting right on a huge stretch of beach in a quiet little resort just outside of Rethymno. ||We requested a quiet 1st floor room and we given room 45 which was ideal. Rooms are basic but have everything you need and are spotlessly clean and beds made every day. Fresh towels and linen twice a week. Could not fault the cleanliness which was superb and staff service throughout the property. Everyone who works there is so friendly. ||Breakfast every day is fresh and plentiful. I cannot understand reviews that mention little choice. There was cereal, fruit, all sorts of different breads, honey, jam, eggs, cheese, ham and more. Excellent value for money and included in our package holiday cost. ||WiFi is available throughout the hotel. In some areas it is a little weaker than others but again - works perfectly fine and I can’t understand why anyone would think otherwise. ||Beds are very comfortable. Single beds but you can push them together if you are a couple. Mattresses are comfortable and good supply of pillows. There is a lovely bathroom with shower over bath and a small and perfectly adequate kitchenette area. Rooms have TV as well. ||AC is available but it costs 12 euro per day which we thought was rather expensive, but I dare say it’s all to do with energy prices on the island as we found several places were reluctant to put AC on or use fans. It made for a few hot and uncomfortable nights so that would be my only criticism. However, halfway through our 2nd week the weather turned noticeably cooler so we didn’t need air conditioning ||Beds around the little pool are free but on the beach they are 7 or 8 euros for a set with a sunshade. Again - a bit on the expensive side, but not so bad if you are spending the whole day on the beach. ||We booked 3 excursions through the hotel reception and they were all very good. Elafonisi, Balos and Gramvousa and South Island. ||We didn’t use the hotel’s pool bar as we found it had no atmosphere so we used the Caribbean/reggae beach bar next door which was really nice.||We would definitely return to Galeana. It was perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday right on the beach. If you want 5 star luxury pay the price ! Galeana is excellent value for money and...
Read moreThe atmosphere is as described everywhere. A small Greek village where everyone has their own little apartment. It is very quiet and cozy and yet less than 50 meters from the apartments is a small town bordering Rethymno where you can eat and shop well. Although the gastronomy has adapted a lot to tourism (i.e. you can often buy schnitzel, hamburgers or English breakfasts), some restaurants have still remained true to Greek traditions and sell very good, typical Greek dishes. The outside of the houses is decorated in a Santorini style. But they are very simply equipped. However, these are also getting a bit old. Sometimes windows are difficult to close or the hinges are so bent that they no longer open at all. Nevertheless, the rooms are clean and tidy. The walls are so thick that there is no WiFi or cell phone reception in the room. The WiFi is also very slow. If you ever get reception somewhere, you should be prepared for a maximum download and upload speed of around 1 Mbit/s (it gets even worse in the evening). For example, it is impossible to watch a film. Cell phone reception is virtually non-existent throughout the entire hotel grounds. Sometimes you have to go down onto the sidewalk from your balcony to make a phone call in order to get good reception. Using mobile data is also impossible. On the beach you can connect to other hotel or bar networks, some of which do not require a password. I measured download and upload speeds of 10Mbits/s in one network. Making phone calls, writing or watching videos is so easy on the beach. In the morning the hotel offers breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. This is comparatively very small and has relatively little selection, but personally I still found everything I needed. The service at reception or at breakfast is always very nice. Room service does a good job and is very accommodating. Overall, the hotel is more for people who are looking for a simple vacation for...
Read moreHello, my name is Christina. I love spending my holidays at the seaside, so I took three weeks in Galeana Beach Hotel in June 2019.||The staff is wonderful, the people here are very warm, friendly and helpful. ||My room included a table, two chairs, two beds, two bedside tables, a big mirror, a TV, a wardrobe, a fan, a fridge, a cook, a kettle, a blender, a set of cutlery 🍴, a set of plates, cups, a cupboard. Also a shower, a toilet, a set of towels, shampoo, shower gel, soup. And a balcony with two chairs and a table, and a place for drying your swimming costume. ||||The location is marvellous. There are supermarkets, a bus station, restaurants, souvenir shops, a pharmacy nearby. Everything works till 11 pm. ||From the bus station you can get to Rethymno (exactly 20 minutes) or Heraclion.||||In one week my friend joined me. What we both really liked here was the long and beautiful beach (sandy, but stones when you come into the water). You can walk and walk and meet the sunset and the sunrise. The beach is not overcrowded. It was important for us. The place here is quite and full of natural sounds like birds, sheep and cocks.||||The breakfast here is really delicious. We ate watermelons, cottage cheese, cheese, bacon, eggs (very good), herbal tea (very healthy and gives energy) , coffee, cacao, tomatoes, cucumbers, pepper and homemade cakes and cretan pies.||||The bar in the hotel is with a beautiful view of the sea, delicious coffee and whatever you want to eat. The quality and the price is good.||So you can stay in your hotel not leaving it for days because you can have everything you need. Or you can go shopping for local products with olive oil and aloe. Also you can buy olive oil in the hotel. ||The place is adorable and people here are adorable, too.||Thank you for...
