We had a fantastic time at the Greco Casa Adele and would highly recommend. We travelled with our two daughters ages 8 and 10 and stayed for 11 nights which felt just right.||We took the hotels private transfer from the airport which took just over an hour for 100 euro which meant we had a seamless trip to the hotel as we arrived in the middle of the night. We had a lovely room with what I think was a queen size bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living space. We were lucky to get a really large balcony (room 514) overlooking the pool which we spent a lot of time around. There are 3 pools and plenty of sunlounger. The hotel has a policy where you can’t reserve sun loungers or they will remove the towels which was great as the mornings felt relaxed. Breakfast was from 7-10am and we would go down anytime between 8 and 9.45am and there was always plenty of food to choice from - the girls loved the pancakes each day and the pastries were so good!||There are plenty of local tavernas and shops right next to the hotel all really good value. A supermarket within a short walk too with everything you need. There’s lots of places where you can book excursions too. We booked aqua city water park which we had a fantastic time at (however the transfer there was quite long - over 2 hours!) We also booked a boat trip through Dolphin cruises however it got cancelled due to weather conditions. The beach was a 5 minute walk - we didn’t spend a full day there due to not being able to swim because of the tide and the red flags but there are plenty of sunlounger and beach side restaurant/cafes. ** The sunset from the beach on an evening is stunning and so nice that the hotel is so close to the beach. We also went into Rethymno a couple of nights which was a 12 euro ten minute taxi ride and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops to spend many hours there.||The hotel was spotless and immaculate which we were really impressed by. The staff work incredibly hard and I want to acknowledge the breakfast staff and reception staff (I think Yiannis who greeted us upon arrival and helped us when we departed too). Everyone was really friendly but not intrusive. A mention to the lovely young life guard who was on the pool with the bridge. We didn’t expect to have a life guard so it was reassuring to have another pair of eyes on the children’s safety and she was switched on and on the ball all day working long hours.||On the last day it was my birthday and I was brought a cake during breakfast which was a lovely surprise. My daughters and I also had a massage by Marianna which was excellent and my girls loved especially as no where back home does massages for children. George on the spa reception was really friendly and helpful organising the massages so thank you both for a lovely experience.||The hotel has a lovely vibe and attracts a certain type of clientele as there were many nationalities and every one was polite, respectful and kept the place clean with no distruptuons. The evenings were very quiet with either families out for the night or many families were sat on their balconies or garden terraced playing garden games or having a drink. It was a really relaxed ambience.||This was our first holiday in a while and much needed and there’s not one thing I can fault.||If I was to add some constructive feedback it would be re the sun loungers near the pool we frequented as I saw many young ones in particular flip over on them if they sat on the end.||All in all, a fantastic time and we don’t usually visit the same place twice but would absolutely consider coming back to the Grecotel Casa...
Read moreMostly a wonderful place to stay. When we first turned up at the hotel, late at night, the staff were very helpful in providing us bottled water and a few refreshments (on the house). The breakfast is amazing, a large buffet with lots of choice and the waiting staff are so friendly it's a pleasure to go to in a morning. The main pool is great for relaxing and proper swimming both, being quite deep from the midpoint onwards. At the time of year we went (early June) the hotel was blessedly quiet and there was never a fight for sun loungers like I've had in nearly every other hotel I've stayed at. Also, a lovely touch this hotel has is bringing out little plates of fruit and glasses of fresh water to you whilst you are swimming (free of charge). The studio apartments are great, very spacious and full of pretty much all the commodities you can think of except perhaps an oven. (Although I wouldn't recommend self catering here as the supermarkets in the area are a bit hit and miss as to what they provide). The lady in the activities area of the hotel was lovely and accommodating and let us play table tennis in spite of the fact we must be a bit out of season and so not all the facilities are available at this time of year. To that end, I'll explain my reasoning for missing a star. The indoor pool wasn't accessible for us because apparently there always has to be a life guard on duty, so if there isn't one available, it's illegal to use it. There's also a games room at the top of the hotel but we weren't able to access it because it was always locked. We asked a staff member who told us it was broken... But I don't know if this was the case or if someone had deigned not to open it? This was our biggest issue at the hotel in general - miscommunication with staff. A lot of them have a basic understanding of English but we struggled to get across what we wanted to ask with a few, particularly those that worked at the desk. We even missed out entirely on the water park excursion we had wanted to go to because some staff members didn't know what we meant or failed to give us the correct information. I also found the attitude of one of the main members of staff a bit shirty, every time we asked him where something was, he had a bit of a raised eyebrow tone of voice as if to say 'don't you know that?' I found that a bit rude to say there's no information given to you to let you know what time things are on and where they are. I honestly think the studio apartments should have a book with all the relevant information inside. Then we wouldn't feel awkward having to ask for every little thing and the staff wouldn't get fed up of reiterating to each new person. Overall though this is a lovely hotel to stay at. It's near a long strip of shops and restaurants and is also only a five minute walk to the beach (although be aware it's sand and shingle, so take something for your feet if you're wanting to go in the sea). Lots of excursions can pick you up and drop you off at your hotel also, so that's a good aspect also. I would say it's worth the hour of transfer time from the airport (although try not to get a night time transfer... The coach drivers here are erratic to say the least). A great...
Read more4 stars hotel with generally good service - cleanness, food and kindness. I gave 3 stars because of dishonesty and lack of proper service in some aspects (see below).
General comment - we were there at the end of season, when it was not packed, yet some of the services seemed at full capacity, for example the space around the pool area, sitting places during breakfast and mainly the parking location. I think that when the hotel is full during the high season, all of these may become a major issue. Also, the hotel is located next to the main road (90), so if your room is located at the far end (like ours), it may be quite noisy. On the other hand, it easy to travel with car from there...
Specific experience during our stay which resulted in the 3 star rating: We arrived on October to an hotel which was supposed to have 3 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool as well as ping pong table, squash court and so on (this was also explained on arrival). In reality the indoor pool was closed, also one of the outdoor pools next to it. The ping pong table and squash court were more or less abandoned. At our first arrival there, the hotel employee sitting in the gym lobby told us that the pools are closed for the season (after that the day before we were told that we came to late and the pools are closed for the day). We then went to the reception to get the ping pong and squash rackets. When we got back, he only pointed to the stairs leading to many dark rooms (some were packed with towels, old tv's...) in which the table and court were located. It seemed weird to wonder around and look for the switches for the lights, but that's what we had to do. When we left the area, the gym lobby was empty. A day or two after we came again during the opening times that we were told to be between 10:00 to 18:00, the gym lobby was empty again... We got used for this "treatment" and went down to play. We were there for two hours, for one moment an employee came and looked at us and went away. When finished we closed all lights and left. A day after we came again, this time the building was locked. We got back to the reception again (we were there a few moments before to take the rackets) and asked why it is closed. The receptionist was surprised as well. Yet after a few phone calls she said she is sorry but the pool is now open only between 8:00-12:00 and that she will tell the managers about our complaint. It was obvious she was not happy with the answer she had to provide (yet I cant blame her - she is only an employee). I did not want to deal with this no more, but I was totally disappointed from the experience and from the dishonesty. It is a shame. I Would have been fine if at the beginning we would have been told that some amenities are provided only on limited times during specific hours (which do not change occasionally) and that if these amenities are active, a staff member would be there to operate...
