I hardly ever post 1 star review. My time here in Crete have been amazing until I came across this place. Server with glasses full of attitude. No smile no service. Chef cutting the meat was nice as well as the younger server-so the glasses older server will very well know who this review is about. Don't educate me about bringing water into the restaurant. There was barely any water left in the bottle. We were tourists walking the streets and stumbled upon this restaurant for a quick bite and there was no garbage can around for me to throw out the bottle. You could've told us before we sat down to not bring water in. I could've thrown it out if you allowed. Don't tell me not to bring water in when we're done eating and asked for the check. We didn't even drink the water in the restaurant. Only my daughter needed a sip because she was coughing but again not a big deal if we had to throw it out when you told us at the beginning. On to the food-not good at all. We had many gyros during our trip. This was worse than having it at a non Greek restaurant. Extremely salty, dry and not good. Not sure how the 5 stars review come about. Clearly all the low reviews says the same-rude owner, bad quality food. To add, I've noticed many restaurants extremely accommodating with tourists who happen to have a water bottle with them because they are walking and while they're carrying a bottle with them doesn't mean they'll drink from it at the restaurant. Be a genuine person and not make assumptions or be a person who speaks up appropriately and not make snide remarks. Always be kind and give benefit of the...
Read moreThis is the cheapest and the most rude restaurant anywhere in Crete I’ve been to. And the owner, who’s also the waiter, has the nerve to write back to everyone who writes a comment he doesn’t like, with his stupid, unintelligent attacks in his defense, instead of apologizing and trying to improve his attitude and his service He’s the waiter yet he acts like he doesn’t have to wait on you and that he’s doing you a favor. By the way when I read people writing they cannot believe the 5 star ratings of this place it’s bc this is not the same ownership. They’ve bought this place a short while ago but didn’t take away the great comments of the old one bc it suits them well and they wanna fool people by taking credit for the old owners who’s chef lived in Germany and his gyro is original in Crete etc., it’s definitely not these people or this “chef”, if you will, and at high prices, specially on the popular foods. They’re also lying about their credit card machine not working and forcing people to pay in cash by inconveniencing them, as a punishment for having eaten in their restaurant, to go to the ATM machine somewhere, and by following in his motorbike to make sure they won’t run away, and taking their cash and without a bill. How can you trust these people to eat in their restaurant after that. I know I won’t. There’s so much more to write but unfortunately it doesn’t fit...
Read moreWe were very disappointed with our experience. When we asked to pay by card, the waiter told us to wait “3–4 minutes.” After 20 minutes, I asked again, only to be told that “the terminal is not working.” Nobody informed us about this when we ordered, nor when we first asked for the bill.
It quickly became clear this was not just our case – other tables who tried to pay at the same time were also told to go to the ATM and withdraw cash because “there’s no internet and the terminal doesn’t work,” even though the restaurant has its own Wi-Fi network.
After waiting a bit longer, we finally went to the ATM. However, when the waiter was printing the bill, the terminal automatically turned on, lit up green, and clearly showed that it was connected. This proved that the terminal was never actually broken, but that they simply preferred cash and misled the guests.
As for the food, nothing special – acceptable for the price. However, the fries tasted like fish, which clearly shows the same fryer was used.
Extremely unprofessional and disappointing overall. Everyone around noticed that the excuse about the terminal “not working” was...
