Taverna Yiannis!!! Greek traditional food, fresh fish, fresh meat and pasta!!! — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

Please please don’t leave Crete if your in the rethimno area without visiting taverna yiannis on the 90going towards rethimno just before the left to lidle it’s amazing so how you want Greece to be amazing food amazing atmosphere family that’s Like your own this is our last night just had last meal with our new made friends was brilliant going to miss everything what Greece is about I don’t do pics of food but this time it’s different we normally try many different tavernas but get one this good you don’t move on the local tavernas must wonder what we doing wrong there all empty and they are full 🤣what’s really nice we stopped to look at the outside menu nobody tried to get us in a friendly face asked if we needed help with the menu etc just ask him inside unlike the harbour who try to drag you in and once in your just a number . Review from 2023: I went to this place again this year. Nothing changed, the restaurant and the staff are still top notch. There was a slight change in the menu so I did my best to try everything I could during my stay. The food is really professionally cooked. I am very picky about restaurants and their specialties, and I can say this one is great. For example the squid, octopus and snail meat is juicy and tender. Not even the slightest over or under cooked. The salads do not look and taste like something locally bought, but prepared in the restaurant with fresh ingredients. They are honestly polite and enjoy mutual respect with their customers. I'll hopefully visit next year as well.

Review from 2022: Awesome food. Very busy but extremely well organized. I went to this place for more than 5times and the quality was always the same, service very fast, and even when there were no empty tables, the wait wasn't very long, or they fix another one. We decided to visit Taverna Yiannis after researching highly rated restaurants in the area we were staying in. Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival especially with our children but other guests didn't seem happy we had young children with us despite them being well behaved and sitting nicely. This is not the restaurants fault but important to note if you are dining with children. Starters were very nice and enjoyed by all our party. I ordered the moussaka for my main which I was unfortunately underwhelmed by as the aubergine was in large pieces and hard. My son also didn't enjoy his spaghetti bolegnese. Other members of the party loved their mains. We also felt like they wanted us in and out quickly and it felt very rushed which is understandable as they are very busy.
