At first we were a bit reluctant to go in as there was not many customers unlike other restaurants and taverns around. As we already ate at several of them we wanted to try different places that offers variety of food as we have a daughter who is picky eater. I've only looked at the star rating and didn't read the reviews, but thought to give it a try as it had the higher rating than some other restaurants we've already visited, so we went in. The restaurant is simply and traditionally decorated, nothing over the top. The staff( owners) were very friendly . We ordered grilled sea bass, cream schnitzel and Bolognese( no photos) . When the food arrived, which was not long wait, the platest looked very appetising, but only when we actually tried it,was absolutely excellent. All the flavours and the taste of fresh and freshly prepared food was such a delight. After that,we decided to go back the next evening, this time I took photos as I wanted to write the review. We ordered grilled octopus and was prepared for the wait of 45 minutes ( because is cooked from the scratch), pork pepper fillet and again spaghetti Bolognese 😂( as our daughter said it's the best one she tried so far). For starter we just ordered some pitta bread and tzatziki. Again, the food was absolutely amazing! Octopus was so tender and the flavours were mouth watering. The fillet was also tender and very tasty. The only regret we have is that we didn't come to this restaurant sooner. The prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing. It is a shame the restaurant is half empty while the others which offer less quality in food are full. Tonight is our last night and I can't wait to go for...
Read moreWithout a doubt the best food we’ve ate in Crete! We were recommended this place amongst others by our hotelier, we tried two others before Steki but after one meal here, we came back another two times! 3/7 evening meals spent here and we wish we ate here 7/7! The hosts were friendly, the food was delicious, as a veggie we had a Mezze style meal of starters 2 nights (the courgette fritters are to DIE for) and one night my partner had lamb kleftlico and I had onion soup which my partner practically licked his plate clean as you can see in the photo & me too! Everything we ate was amazing and left with very full bellies, finished off with fresh grapes and home made raki! We would come to Crete again just for this restaurant, if you’re in the area you definitely have to try it!! Very very reasonably priced too - we’d have...
Read moreQuite a modern looking place with a traditional Greek welcome. We dropped in for dinner on one of our last evenings, after having previously just had drinks in here before and seeing the plates of food that were coming out to the waiting diners. We weren't disappointed when we came back to eat. After deliberating over the excellent selection of food, my wife opted for Lasagne whilst I eventually opted for the Rabbit Stifado, which, when I tucked into it, just fell off the bone and was in a rich, juicy sauce. The flavours were to die for. We were both stuffed after meals, but the Cretan hospitality forbids you from leaving the table without some of "Mama's cake" and lashings of Honey Raki, all free and gratis of course. What a lovely place, and what a wonderful dining experience in this family...
