My honest advice: avoid this restaurant at all costs.
Right at the entrance, we were greeted by an extremely unpleasant manager who practically rolled her eyes when we asked if we could just sit for a drink. When we had questions about the wine we wanted to order, she was again incredibly rude and disrespectful.
When we eventually decided to have dinner, my PREGNANT WIFE ordered moussaka, which was HALF-FROZEN — you could literally feel ice with your fork inside the dish. When we pointed this out, they took the moussaka away and brought THE SAME ONE BACK a few minutes later, just reheated. It was now so overheated that it was practically inedible.
They REHEATED FOOD TWICE in a matter of minutes — a dish containing ingredients that should NEVER be reheated even once — and they served it to a pregnant woman.
When we pointed this out to the manager, she became even more rude. She rushed to bring us the bill, and when she returned with the change, she didn’t even wait for us to take it before saying “GOODBYE” and walking away.
So, not only will you be greeted by an extremely rude manager, but you’ll also be served QUESTIONABLE FOOD THAT COULD...
Read moreWe stopped at the Ode ´Sea Food’ Restaurant to have dinner in front of the beautiful oceanic scenery of Rethymno. At first the place looked promising, it was lovely decorated and the staff was friendly. However, everything went south when we first got our bottle of (ice-cold !?) house red wine. It was more brown than red, cooled and tasted like pure vinegar. Without giving any indication of how bad it was, the waitress came over after a few minutes to check if we’re happy with the wine - we made it clear that that is not the case - that was basically ignored and we were still expected to drink and pay for it. So far, so bad... since that place claims to be a sea food restaurant located at the sea, we thought what could possibly go wrong ordering that. How wrong we were - the Calamaris were clearly just cheap frozen and fried ones, accompanied by some dry french fries that have been fried in the exact same fish oil. Long story short, the food was terrible and the drinks even worse. The place might look nice, but better go somewhere else if you don’t want to have your...
Read moreWe discovered this lovely restaurant by coincidence when we were walking through the rather touristic Rethymno. The food was absolutely delicious which was why we returned a couple of times. We tried several different starters (the stuffed vine leaves as well as the fried anchovies were my favourite) and main courses - from Kleftiko and Gyros to sea bass and shrimps - and loved all of them. Finally, the service was the "cherry on top" for me: Sissy did an amazing job, she always welcomed us very warmly and really made sure you were taken care of. You could really feel how passionate she is for her restaurant as she decorated it with a great attention to detail. We will definitely return to this place next time we...
