Read moreWhere do I start. First impressions were positive with a lovely clean looking venue and greeted very well by the owner who spoke very highly of his restaurants (“best on the island”). Decided on the mix grill (again) and was looking forward to trying a selection of meets- when came, all meats were VERY dry, tough where I could not even cut into the ribs nor the (black) pork chop. It was apparent that the food was 100% not cooked on the same day, the chips also tasted very stale. The best part of the food was the side salad that I had finished and hardly touched the meats- I should have sent the dish back however not wanting to complain or cause a scene I however informed the owner when paying. The owner looked at the dish and said he can tell it was “overcooked” and he will tell the chef however we all knew the meats were not fresh and reheated. No apology nor an attempt to rectify- I honestly felt that the owner knew all of the above and they wanted to use yesterdays cooked food and collected the payment very quickly (however very pleasant with it). I had a mix grill a few nights before from a restaurant a few doors up on the corner and by far much better quality all round! My partner had a pasta dish at this restaurant which was bland and the chicken dry. Shame overall as looked like a lovely place- a waste of money and due to the above, informed the owner that I would leave a review as feel his business model is to reuse the night before food. Due to this experience not sure how it is...
Read moreWe went out for dinner with the family today. Ordered a steak, spaghetti for the kid, and grilled octopus. And that’s when the show began 🙃 This was the worst octopus I’ve ever had in my life: the first one came out burnt and smelled like someone had grilled an old shoe. Sent it back. The second one came out - well, not a shoe this time, but a rock. Honestly, my kid could’ve used it instead of building blocks
Okay, fine, mistakes happen, not every seaside restaurant knows how to cook octopus. But here’s the kicker - they still put this “ghost dish” on the bill! I never even ate it. And then came the bargaining, like I was at a marketplace instead of dinner: “We’ll take half off.” Wow, a discount on burnt shoe and rock! 🥳
I felt less like a guest and more like a contestant on Who Wants to Pay for the Restaurant’s Screw-Ups? Should’ve turned around the second they tried to drag us in from the street. Let’s be real - do classy restaurants need to hustle customers like that?
Moral of the story: if you’re in the mood for adventure - order the octopus here. If not -...
