ACROPOLIS TAVERNA — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

I took my family here on our last night as it looked to really nice as we had passed by.

We ordered our food and everything seemed alright. My youngest had ordered chicken nuggets and chips and as she cut into one of them, she noticed it wasn’t cooked properly. So we called one of the waiters over and he said they would remake it and took the plate.

About 3 mins later, they returned the plate with the same nuggets recooked and the same chips which were much colder by this time. They had just took off the 2 nuggets she had cut into and hadn’t eaten off the plate as they were still raw.

The main waiter who had taken our order asked if everything was OK, so I pointed out that my daughter’s nuggets weren’t cooked properly and I said I wouldn’t be paying for them as they didn’t recook it. He apologised and said he would sort it.

They bought the bill with the nuggets on it, so I explained I wouldn’t be paying for the nuggets, they sent the manager across who said that as she had eaten them, we should pay for it. I had to point out to her that they could have potentially given my daughter food poisoning, they just recooked the nuggets so her chips had gone cold and that she didn’t eat a full meal. The manager said she shouldn’t have sent it back and then we wouldn’t have to pay, so I said am I suppose to let my daughter starve while we continue eating. I was clearly raising my voice and I said I’d happily pay for everything else, when the manager realised a scene was being created, they reluctantly took it off the bill.

The rest of the food we had was pretty good but should I really be having to argue? I have worked in the food industry and if this had happened to any customer, I would have been so apologetic and just removed them off the bill entirely. This kind of ruined our last night, my daughter felt like she was responsible.

We went here as it looked nice. God I was wrong, we arrived the table was not clean the waiter initially wiped the table but the table was still sticky and he then threw every bit of the mess on the floor. We requested a second wipe and was still sticky. The waiter who was serving us, was incredibly disrespectful, rude and uninterested. She was more interested in speaking to her friends on the table next to us. We ordered our food and was made to wait up to 45 minutes. I was with 3 other people. And we was given zero attention at all by the waiters. Despite the wait. We ate our food it came out cold and overcooked. We ordered a seafood pasta and you could taste the sand in the muscles. The prawns were not cleaned it was revolting. The pitta bread we ordered was rock solid and stale. The main waiter we had was so unhelpful as I said I believe we arrived @22:00 the people next to us arrived @22:20 they ordered and received their food within 15 to 20 minutes we was made to wait until about 22:45/22:50 overall a shambolic experience and a dinner to forget. This was a lovely meal in a lovely restaurant. i really enjoyed the experience here firstly, let me tell you about the hummus.

This is the nicest hummus i have ever had in my whole life. it tasted so fresh and it was so smooth, i have never had anything quite like it, it was absolutely delicious.

The perikafti was also delicious. Ihave never had it before, but the closest thing i can compare it to is mini bruschetta with feta and sun dried tomatoes on top, it was very tasty.

The mains were phenomenal! The shrimp were so big and fresh, i don’t think i have ever tasted anything so fresh in my life. The sauce and rice it was served with complemented the shrimp so well.

The broccoli and cauliflower was a little over cooked, but there was not much so it did not greatly affect the meal. The sea bass was divine! again, the fish was so fresh and tasted amazing. The rice and sauce, again, complimented the fish so well.

The staff were friendly and the service was very quick. The restaurant also had good atmosphere, i would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone...
