A traditional family Greek Taverna offering food, drink and service of the highest quality Phillips sports bar have been owned by the same family since 1977. They boast they are the oldest bar in Town. I think they are also the best. We were initially attracted to watch the football recommended by guests staying at our hotel. It is now managed by Steve the son of Phillip his real name Stamatis. I have been a chef for over 30 years and a big part of our holiday is eating out. we soon discovered the food at Phillips bar was a better-quality food than the restaurants we were eating at and paying twice the price. I would particularly recommend the Stifado we tried this in two other restaurants and wasn't a patch on Phillips bar. We also tried the Greek salad, moussaka, soutzoukakia as well as king prawns and deep-fried calamari over several visits. we also had breakfast there and tried some of the snacks Gyros pork and pizza. My wife got quite a taste for their reasonably priced cocktails. We very rarely eat at a place more than once so this was testament to the quality of the food and service we received. Towards the end of our holiday, I cancelled the posh restaurant I had booked in Rhodes town centre. it was a milestone birthday for my wife and ask If they would do something special. The grilled red snapper, fried prawns and calamari serve with a simple salad was perfect. towards the end of the meal the surprise complementary birthday cake and the bottle of prosecco finished the night beautifully. I would like to thank Stamatis and his family for making our visit to Rhodes very special. I have sent a Newcastle united top to go on his wall as...

Founded by Phillip in 1977 this is the oldest bar in Ixia town. If you want freshly caught local Fish, this is the place to go. Phillip's son Steven is a well known local sea fisherman and is now running the family business which also includes daily sea fishing. Steven will also take special requests and orders in the morning or the day before and the prices are very reasonable. There's also a wide range of other non seafood dishes on the menu.
We spent two great nights here, having Steak (Which was delicous!) and Chicken the first night and freshly caught local Sea Bass on the second. Both were flame grilled and served with a greek salad, various dressings and hand cut chips. When ordering the fish I was offered it filleted or whole. Two types of complimentary deserts were brought after our meals on both nights, on our second night this was a traditional greek desert.
We found the food and service at Phillips to be much better than the restaurants in the Old Town. This together with a 25 Euro return taxi saving by staying local was a no brainer for us.
As well as a restaurant, there is also a sports bar with large screen TV's playing international sports events.
Steven and his wife are doing a great job here, they offer a friendly welcome to their guests and really make you feel at home, instead of just a table number.
We look forward to returning in future. Highly...
Read moreBrilliant Bar restaurant tucked down a small street. Food is lovely, freindly chatty staff, great atmosphere and even with power cuts due to the recent fires on Rhodes, we still had a great night with "Steve" and family who own and run the place. Access good for all, nearby street parking, good choice of beers and drinks, definately would reccomend a visit. Sometimes quiet these days but i do believe the all inclusive complexes nearby have killed the small businesses so please go and see for yourself. Its one of the oldest bars in Ixia/ Ialyssos. Family run, home cooked authentic greek food and hospitality. Thank u Steve and we will...
