A leather-bound novel on a library shelf of cheap comic books, Sirtaki is a head above the rest on the coastal Rhodian strip of sports bars and glorified kebab shops. The first differentiating signal is the family host sitting out front, content at his personal table of ouzo and cigarettes, rather than stepping into the trajectory of passers-by. It quickly became apparent that he did not need to employ those tactics to fill the restaurant.
Once at my table, a server that bore a striking resemblance to my lovable silver-haired uncle offered me guidance on the extensive menu and I eventually ordered a local red wine, the feta saganaki starter, and the garlic-roasted lamb main dish.
The starter was more than my taste buds were ready for in the best way possible; blocks of hearty feta enveloped in perfectly seared sesame seeds. Holy salty splendour. After doing my best to slow down and enjoy every bite with a sip of vino, the main arrived. The pulled lamb was two thirds of a massive platter that included a well-dressed green salad, brown rice, and soft-boiled potatoes. The lamb tasted like no other meat I have ever had, and the dream lasted through the entire dish.
At the surrounding tables, families put the multi-lingual menu to the test; I didn’t hear one other native English speaker during my meal. The diversity made for an incorrect desert order at a table nearby, but that’s an understandable handicap. (Note that they were mistakenly brought a serving of cheesecake, which they sent back!?!?)

I have visited this area of Rhodes on five separate occasions and I honestly don’t think there is a more friendly and authentic place to eat.
The staff, really couldn’t be more welcoming, hospitable, friendly and kind, instantly recognising us each time we revisit the island.
Our recent visit has been our second with our little girl who is only 16 months. The staff were enormously kind providing toys for her to play with and giving her a t-shirt on our last day of holiday. Thank you so very much.
Sirtaki Taverna stands out as a very traditional, family run restaurant and it honestly feels as though you are visiting your family who are cooking you a genuine authentic meal.
We could not recommend Sirtaki Taverna more - 5⭐️ every time! It is the best we have been to and we have visited many of the Greek islands.
Thank you very much again. We hope to see you...
Read moreWe absolutely fell in love with this place. We ate there 4 nights out of our 7 nights in Rhodes. The service was great, extremely friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food was fantastic. Homemade, full of flavour and delicious. We were spoilt for choice as they had all the greek classics souvlaki, gyros, kokkinisto, moussaka etc. We ate like kings, the portions were very generous and reasonably priced. We always left feeling extremely full but very satisfied. Great selection of drinks also to accompany the meal. The staff made our visits very pleasurable, they engaged in conversation even though they were busy and always had a smile on their face whatever they were doing. Each night they had a queue outside the door stretching down the street so this place is...
