Taverna Periklis. Traditional greek restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Recommended to me as being a nice restaurant. I say that it is not a nice restaurant, it is excellent. First class, probably the best Greek restaurant I have ever been to and definitely the best on Rhodes. I think personally that it has an all round Greek feel to it, which you do not get from other establishments. Such a friendly and warm welcome from this family run taverna. So helpful and patient in deciding what to eat. Brilliant customer service. We actually went here several times after being recommended as it was such a treat. All the food was delicious and amazing. Admittedly, as the portions are so big, my wife and I shared a dish with salad etc and we're still full and satisfied. The taverna is set on the side of a road, but up on the first floor terrace, where you get partial sea views and can also watch the sun go down over the hills. A great feel to the place and lovely friendly atmosphere. Five stars and first class service, food and atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning to Rhodes and to visit this taverna again. If you are near to Lardos or passing, give it a go. I am sure you will not be disappointed. We were very very very happy....

Outstanding traditional family taverna! We ate here almost every night of our two week holiday and still didn't get to try everything we wanted to! The pork and lamb chops are devine, the mixed grill and mixed greek plate are huge and every element is delicious, the moussaka, dolmades, stuffed peppers and saganaki are freshly made and amazing. We also had fresh sword fish, calamari and souvlakis - all equally delicious and the Mediterranean salad with figs, walnuts and pomegranate served with a generous helping of feta was my personal favourite. On the odd night we had room we sampled the baklava, walnut and chocolate cake and orange cake, all of which were sublime. Mythos and alpha are available on draft and served in ice cold glasses and the house white and rose wines are fruity and dry. Tasty food, hearthy and delicious. Exactly what you need on your first evening in Lothiarika (Pefkos/Lardos).

Edit 190719: Our family's been back probably 9 times these past 14 days. We've tried other places all over the island (in Pefkos, Rhodes Town Old & New, Lindos, Falliraki, Prasonisi), a few were good and one or two were misses, but nothing as good as Taverna Periklis here in Lothiarika.

So, the service is familiar. Very kind people, you feel like you're home. The food is really rustique, portions are generous and prices compared to home and other restaurants on Rhodos are very affordable.
