After a long day of exploring the tallest mountain of the island, my cat was in serious need for food. Since my cat was afraid of heights, the mountain tour made it quite cranky, so I knew that tonight I had to take it to a special restaurant. Il Bistro Italiano soon appeared as one of the most renowned restaurants in Faliraki, Ranking number one on the current Tourist Guide. Thus, we set out to see for ourselves.
After arriving, we found the restaurant at maximum capacity and booked out. This is hardly a rare sight, since we have encountered a waiting line every single night we passed by. The friendly Italian owner greeted us with the expected apologies, but invited us to wait for a table to free up, which could take quite a while. Tonight however, we did take our chances and joined the waiting line. Having sit down, I realized that I never had to wait to eat in a restaurant. An expectation started to materialize.
As a most pleasant surprise, another friendly face led us to our table only after a short wait. Moreover, my cat and I were seated at one of the best tables in the entire restaurant. Charming!
Then, the food. My cat was quite starved at this point, so we ordered a pizza, in addition to mushrooms and spaghetti carbonara. Since poetry would take space and time insufficient for this review, I will simply remark: The food served was the best we've ever had on the entire island.
But here comes the onion: It was very very affordable! Cheaper than most of the so called "fine" restaurants close by, yet trumping them with taste, service and atmosphere.
If you are in Faliraki, or the north in general, Il Bistro Italiano is a place that will surprise you and more. The best (Italian) food of all of Rhodos...
Read moreWe had walked past a couple of times and thought how lovely this restaurant looked, fortunately we were in the area when they opened. When I say ‘opened’ they hadn’t even managed to light candles, but we were welcomed with open arms.
The place is decorated amazing, and the staff are all lovely to everyone - including children. Our daughter started to have a toddler moment where she didn’t want to sit, but the manager or owner came over and gave us a pen and more serving paper for her to draw on and the attitude whilst doing this left me wanting to cry; we’ve had a few issues with feeling like an inconvenience with our two little ones. I think everyone’s a bit warn down from the season😂.
We had two vegan pizzas, two Mythos bottles, focaccia mix and chips. Everything was absolutely incredible. Our daughter is such a fruit eater, so isn’t into chips and things like that - but she ate these chips.
This is such a lengthy review, but this place deserves it. Everyone is welcome and when we’d finished, paid and walking out, we waved goodbye and everyone in the team (including the chefs) waved goodbye.
Thank you for an amazing meal...
Read moreWe passed a few times at the beginning of the week and noticed it appeared popular with a lovely decor and layout, the smell coming from the kitchen definitely got out attention.
After having a not so great experience with the food offering at our hotel, one evening we decided to call in here for dinner. The food is excellent, top quality and great portions - brilliant value for money.
We started with the classic bruschetta, it was the largest portion I have had at a restaurant and glad we order one to share. Both ordered pasta dishes and devoured them.
After a fantastic meal we ended up returning the following evening, again starting with the bruschetta (though asked for everything to be served together), one of us ordered the Caesar salad (it was a huge portion, delicious and excellent value for money), the other the fruit de mer pasta with the freshest seafood. Another excellent meal, we promised to return on our next visit to Faliraki.
Service is fast, extremely friendly and welcoming, all the staff are knowledgeable of what is being served, had smiles, and were more than happy to...
