Metalleio — Restaurant in Municipality of Serifos

The best and maybe the only restaurant in serifos. Away from all the mess with the many low quality restaurants and cafes by the port which makes it ideal for a quiet dinner. Place is very small and cute with tops 10 tables in a nice small yard which means that it is never too crowded so you can really enjoy your meal comfortably but you always need to make a reservation due to limited tables. As for the menu, not many choices but all modern style and interesting enough to cover all tastes. The portion is as expected for a modern restaurant...not too small but not big either. Salads could be a bit bigger definitely. We had the green salad with the aged cheese which at the beginning we thought it might be a bit too simple but it turned out so balanced, fresh and tasty that it compensated us. However the portion was small and we added also the kinoa salad later on that was also very good. Congrats to the chef for not serving the usual Kinoa salad which has just kinoa as base but he mixed it up with greens to make it more light and interesting..it was a nice surprise. As entry we had also the eggplant salad which was AMAZING!!!light and tasty with a nice smoked essence from the egg plant and the cheese balancing everything. Without onions or any other herb..did not need anything extra as it was tasty by itself and very very light!!!finally we shared a main dish, the veal tagliata with truffle and potatoes that we asked to be well done. The dish was stunning! It was cooled just as much as it needed. Very juicy and the taste was amazing!! No words to describe. You should definitely taste it. As desert we had the chocolate mousse that was nice but too small...it was difficult to even put two spoons inside this little pot..Last but not least the service was excellent with the best timing I have ever experienced in a restaurant..not too slow but also not too fast, following a rational order of the dishes. The stuff is polite and the owners are so sweet and welcoming! They came many times to our table to ask if everything was ok. It is not cheap..if you go you should be prepared that you will pay over 50 euro for a couple but it totally deserve it. We paid more for much worst food in serifos. Overall, it is a place you should definitely visit if you come to serifos. The island is falling short in its culinary service with metaleio being the only exception offering high value cuisine. The only thing I would suggest as an optimization is to make salads a bid bigger or to lower their price and maybe add some local ingredients in the dishes to make the menu a bit...

Metalleio is defenetly the alternative choice on the island. In the menu you will find dishes with a unique mixture of traditional greeck ingredients that you haven't tasted anywere else. Kritharoto and Skioufixta are only two of my favorite but you could realy see that there was a great amount of detail and effort spent in all of the dishes from the taste to its appearance.

Although it lacks the perfect view, the architecture and the esthetics alongside with a carefull selection of music are more that enough to compensate. Just imagine that some of the tables are actually made from old modified mining equipment. This strikes as no surprise  since the name of the restaurant actually means "mining site" and Serifos as we found out has a long "mining" history. The price range for that king if food quality is really  good.

The service was great with a warm welcoming, different from most of the tavernas. There is a great selection of wine preserved in the appropriate temperature, and the owner will be more than happy to guide you through the endless wine list!

Overall I give a five star for a great combination of taste, tradition...

Superb gastronomic experience in Serifos island. The restaurant is located at a beautiful spot in Livadi, near the harbor and it's decorated according to the local architecture but in a more warm and modern manner. Staff is polite, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable on their scope. Regarding the food:.. WOW WOW WOW! Their food is based on creative ideas upon local recipies BUT extended within a more modern mold, every single thing we tasted was awesome and unique.
