They’re made to order—plan to preorder about an hour ahead or settle in and wait happily on-site for peak freshness. After trying loukoumades across Crete and in Athens, these stand clearly above the rest for texture, honey quality, and balance. Portions are generous: roughly two-walnut-sized pieces, typically served by the dozen. Don’t miss the other sweets: the banoffee (banana–toffee classic) is lush and nostalgic, and the tiramisu is equally well executed, both in generous, American-style portions. Georgia is a wonderful , warm-hearted proprietor who makes all the phenomenal cakes! Very generous helpings, excellent iced coffee and very good, reasonably priced cafe food. Going back to Frangokastello for the sixth time soon and after lunch in the taverna on Day 1 we’re heading straight to Georgia’s for coffee and cakes for dessert!! Update: another amazing holiday with several trips to G’s. The café has been renovated and extended very tastefully:) More room, shadier and offering greater shelter from the occasional strong winds. A mention for Costas, G’s son, who runs the place with her: really attentive, kind and friendly. Very popular spot, frequented by both locals and tourists. Georgia, the owner, runs her restaurant with a smile and a lot of skill. The pastries are almost all homemade and delicious. They vary from chocolate cake to rice pudding and change often. In addition to that, Georgia offers sandwiches, burgers and Sfakian pie made with cheese produced by her family. Once we had a quick coffee there, it came with two thick slices of fresh, homemade lemon cake. Highly recommend for takeout...
