My first time in Greece we landed in Korfu and found Kavos to be a very “alive” little town aimed mostly at young adults trying to have a good time. Smackdab in the middle of the town you will find this Taverna which is also quite busy but still kept its vibe to seem a bit more relaxed and “slow” which had masive appeal to me as a no longer young adult who just passed into his fourties. The two main servers i could make out are both quick on their feet and will keep you pleasantly enjoying the traditional background music as you drink your beverage and munch on the starters while waiting for the main dish to arrive.

We had the cold meze platter, saganaki and garlic bread one night and some meatballs and spicy sausage in tomato sauce the next and both nights the starters were very tasty and could have actually been our entire meal. We might actually come back a third time and treat the starters as spanish tapas which is basically what the Meze is supposed to be.

For main courses we had bifteki and the sea bass and both dishes are excellent. I don’t actually like fish but i tried a couple of nibbles and you can tell when a fresh fish is properly prepared and has just enough spices and aromatics to not taste fishy and not be overpowering on garlic flavor either. I kept stealing from my partners plate all night although my Bifteki was tasty itself.

Drinks are the usual you will find all around kavos so nothing special here.

A tall iced mug of cold mythos is definitely a good start into the night here.

We will be coming back for more...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Village Taverna in Kavos, Corfu, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home. The rustic decor, with its charming wooden furniture and traditional Greek elements, perfectly set the stage for a delightful evening.

The food at The Village Taverna is absolutely phenomenal. Every dish is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Greece. I particularly enjoyed the perfectly grilled meats and the fresh, flavorful salads. The moussaka was a standout – rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a celebration of authentic Greek cuisine.

What truly sets this taverna apart, however, is the exceptional service. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and eager to ensure that every guest has a wonderful experience. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and well taken care of throughout our meal.

Adding to the vibrant ambiance, the taverna features live Greek music and traditional Syrtaki dancing. Watching the talented dancers and even joining in on the fun was a highlight of the evening. The joyous atmosphere, combined with the excellent food and service, made for a perfect night out.

If you're visiting Kavos, I highly recommend making a stop at The Village Taverna. It's a place where you can enjoy delicious food, warm hospitality, and a true taste of Greek culture. I'll definitely be coming back on my next...

We ate here for our first meal, and our last meal and as it turns out, every meal we had in kavos. Firstly we were blown away by Leandros and how friendly and welcoming he was, then there was the food, and then there was his family! It was all absolutely stunning. Now, the food. It's all cooked fresh and it is packed full of flavour by his fabulous head chef, who just happens to be his wife. We ate Greek nearly every night and we were never disappointed, whether we had a fish dish, a beef dish or one of their fantastically great value gyros and I will never be able to do it justice with my words. Try it for yourself when you visit. On top of the food, Leandro, along with Kostas entertain you every night with Greek dancing, plate smashing and some fantastic special effects from Kostas. Leandros and his family make you feel like you are the most important people in the restaurant and they go above and beyond to make your dining experience the best it can be. For us, they made our holiday and we would like to think that we will all hold a special place in our hearts. We will definitely be going back to kavos and we will definitely be eating every meal in the village taverna again. I have never been given thank you gifts at the end of my holiday, just for eating a restaurant. I can't thank Leandros and his...

An absolutely lovely Taverna traditional enough to please any Greecien, warm welcome to a very clean and well placed out eating parlour, multiple languages spoken there English and German too. International TV, superb menu, I think fish is a big one here , the Calamari was gr8, the village beef special was so tender - it melted in the mouth, + pasta and meatballs, probably impossible to fault. A good variety of beers, wines and cocktails, too. Very cool atmosphere, lively Greek music, well ventilated and good space around the tables , children well catered for. Great family run business. Will go back again. Thanks guys. ( on the main road into Kavos ((right side))..
