I recently visited Leonidas Grill House in Sparta, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance transports you back to the ancient times with its authentic Greek decor.
The food was absolutely divine. I started with the Saganaki, which was perfectly crisp and oozing with delicious cheese. The main course of grilled lamb chops was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, bursting with flavor from their special blend of herbs and spices. The sides, like the lemon potatoes and the Greek salad, were fresh and well-balanced, enhancing the meal rather than just accompanying it.
Service at Leonidas Grill House was top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. They even took the time to explain the historical significance of some dishes, which added an educational twist to our dining experience.
The portions were generous, ensuring that you leave satisfied but not stuffed. The wine selection complemented the meal beautifully, with various Greek wines that paired wonderfully with the robust flavors on offer.
The only regret was not having enough room to try more from their dessert menu, but the Baklava we did have was sweet, crispy, and just the right way to end a fantastic meal.
If you're in Sparta, Leonidas Grill House is a must-visit. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that combines culinary excellence with a touch of history. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Greek cuisine or is looking for a memorable...
Read moreIf you're in Greece, you'll probably want to find a place to get a real authentic Greek gyro. If you're in Sparta, there are a few places you'll probably want to see, like Leonidas' statue and tomb.
Right next to Leonidas' tomb, you can get wonderful Greek gyros at Leonidas. I found this place my first day in Sparta and have eaten there three times in the past two days already. They're incredibly great values, too, as they give you generous portions of meat and fillings for less than 3 Euros! ..and despite the low price, they treat you like an honored guest with table service. They even treated me to a free Greek liquor after recognizing me as a repeat customer.
I can't imagine a much better value than this. Staff are super friendly and most of them speak English. All of this right next to the tomb of Leonidas. No fuss, no hassle.. just simple, amazing...
Read moreWe stopped at this wonderful spot before our long visit to Mystras. We ordered the pork skewers—so tasty and juicy—and paired them with a local Sparta beer that had a unique flavor and a cool label featuring a mask symbolizing a local mythological monster. The staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the story behind it, which we really appreciated. Their warmth and hospitality made the experience even more special. A great place to enjoy local flavors and genuine Greek...
