I had an amazing experience at Seariani's and I can recommend it to anyone who loves fresh seafood!! I went there for lunch with a friend on my trip to Syros. We picked it, because we both love sea food and the reviews on Google maps where really good. We loved the food so much that we asked later if we could watch them cook on the next day. They were super friendly and agreed. Following, I describe our lunch at Seareani's and our experience with them the next day when we watched and helped them cook:
Atmosphere: The restaurant has a beautiful outside area and later we realised that the inner side of the building is extremely beautiful as well. So it's also good for bad weather ;) All the employees and the boss of the restaurant are so friendly, funny and in a great mood. When we spent the day there, we felt like being part of the whole family and we had so much fun :D
Food: For lunch, we had Ray and mussels and we loved it. We even got a dill yoghurt paste for free with the bread and later yoghurt with sweet cooked oranges and other fruit as a desert on top. Everything was soo, soo good. As explained before, on the next day we prepared the dishes ourselves (well we mostly watched :p). We were actually amazed how fresh everything is made and Mina is such a lovely and passionate Greek cook. We tried everything that we made. In addition to what we had for lunch, we cooked the grilled fish of the day, fish soup (I thought I wouldn't like it, but I loved it), cuttlefish in herbs (the taste of the herbs was so different to what I've known so far, so good), a paste out of fish eggs, bread, lemon and olive oil (oh my god! I also thought I don't like fish eggs much, but the olive oil makes the taste of it more mild, it's very creamy and yummy), we prepared the oranges for the desert, we prepared the tomato sauce (it smelled so good that we could have only eaten that sauce the whole day), we cooked seafood pasta (pasta was on point al dente and the seafood again amazing), cooked vongole in lemon-mustard-olive oil sauce (this sauce is honestly the best, I'll try it at home), and we prepared the octopus (we couldn't eat more anymore, so we did not try it, but it looked amazing). Everything that Mini made was so, so good! We tried a lot of seafood and pastes. I can highly recommend it and would always come back if I'm in Greece.
Prices: The food tasted like in a fancy restaurant, however the prices were quite low for the quality they offered (we are travelling on a budget, so we always look for good prices).
Conclusion: Best Sea food I've had so far!! Please believe me and come to Seariani's to enjoy great sea food for low prices! Special food recommendations from me: cuttlefish in herbs or grilled cuttlefish, steamed mussels or vongole in lemon sauce, seafood linguine. Thanks again to Christos and Mina for your hospitality and teaching us some of your cooking secrets! ☺️ I'll definetely come...
Read moreFirst of all I was never addressed by the waiter when he would come to the table. He would only respond to my boyfriend and he wasn’t even ordering anything. Secondly, we were brought bottled water without being asked and opened the bottle before we could say we didn’t need any. We were also brought bread and a dip without being asked so we assumed it was free as another table had it as well. We ate one slice only to taste and 2 minutes later I asked if it was free and they said “no nothing is free.” they said it was mentioned on the menu. I asked to see where it says that it is served with your meal and he proceeded to show me just the price of the share plates. We have not looked at the share plates as we didn’t want any. I went in ONLY looking to eat some mussels and it was the ONLY thing I ordered. They managed to up the price of the bill with all these unwanted extras by taking advantage of us as tourists. I came on here to see if anyone else has experienced terrible service from this place and it looks like they have done some sneaky things to customers. It was a disappointing experience and a shame all together as it is our last day in Greece and it left a sour taste...
Read moreWe visited on Saturday 14 October for dinner having read other reviews in Trip Adviser which praised their grilled Octopus dish. We were particularly looking forward to it. To start with the table set up was slightly chaotic and then our bread and dip did not arrive until our first course was served. The first course of crab tart at 25 euros was good but not worth that much being a pile of cold crab mixed with dill and potato on a hard small tart base. The second course of grilled octopus at 22 euros was a total disappointment as not only was the piece of Octopus quite small, with a tiny potato salad and tiny cabbage salad, it had been splayed to grill it so it was dry, tough, and tasteless. We sent both dishes back as unacceptable and asked for it to be removed from the bill. There was little in the way of apology although they did offer to replace it, however we declined. The wine list makes it an overall expensive experience even if the octopus...
