Egli — Hotel in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

Booked this hotel the day before and informed them that we'd be arriving on a late ferry. It was dark when we arrived and had a little difficulty finding the hotel but when we finally got there we had a nice warm welcome. The hotel is situated up several stone steps from the harbour but is very centrally located for shops, ferries, buses, bars and restaurants. We had room 21 on the first floor (there is a very efficient lift to all floors) From our small balcony at the front of the hotel we had a good view of the boats in the harbour. We didn't experience any street noise at night. The room was very comfortable as were the beds and pillows. The air conditioning in the room worked well,as did the WiFi. There was a good water supply in the bathroom with plenty of hot water. Our sheets and towels were changed daily. Breakfast was basic but included delicious home made bread. This is my favourite budget hotel in my favourite cycladic island. The hotel stands in a quite side street above the harbor area, in the very center of Ermoupolis. From there you can explore easily the city, all the shops are around. The Aegli is a small, family run place, so don't expect luxury. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but the view.... wow. Be sure to ask for a room on the upper floor, sit on the balcony and watch the sun setting over the harbor and the roofs of the houses. Room was clean and well maintained. The view from the rooftop was splendid but it could used a shaded area for sunny days. The owners were not overly helpful or friendly. We had contacted them in advance because our ferry arrived late at night. They could have walked the few steps down to the ferry stop to show us the way.
