A bit disappointed with our visit we had expected more after reading the reviews. With just one table taken when we arrived at 8pm it still took a while before we were given a menu. Hand written with a small choice, just what we like. Also the food took longer to come than in the other restaurants we visited during our month in mainland Greece,again this is our preference. However the food was overall disappointing. Grilled mushrooms and herbs: just four medium mushrooms, not good value for money, although the flavour was good. A sausage and egg dish was four fried eggs on a dish with thin slices of overcooked sausage around the edge. Meatballs were OK but the serving of chips in a tiny frying basket seemed overly pretentious and not in keeping with somewhere purporting to be an authentic Greek restaurant. In contrast to many positive reviews of this tavern ,I had an extremely negative experience in just about every aspect.Firstly,the waitress who takes orders and serve the dishes has a distinct depressive behaviour that's everything but welcoming to customers.Its hard to believe that any business would use this smileless,gloomy ,repulsive and impolite person for main service if not as a joke...Some dishes are simply ok.Nothing special, nothing really tasty.Other dishes are below average...The grilled calamari dish while average in taste was ridiculously small with only 3 pieces...Prices are unjustifiably and disproportionately high for the low quality and quantity of food .In all honesty this place is the worst tavern I have ever been ,not only in Thessaloniki but probably all...

Lonely Planet led us here and not gonna lie, we were a bit confused at first. For some reason, we were the only people in the restaurant the entire time. The menu is handwritten on paper and the place is decorated in an old style. But the reviews suggested otherwise, so we stayed.

And, no regrets. It was delicious. Some of the best octopus I’ve had. Husband had the meatballs and enjoyed those too. The waiter said the menu changes so depending on when you go, you may have different options.
