Zafora is run by a tight knit Greek family with nonna at the helm . Nonna's food is generous , warming , homely , rustic and above all delicious . Nonna gets up at 6am in the morning picks saffron from a secret spot close to her home and starts on prep . The waiter jokes she knows not the value of this commodity . With the Venetian Castle nestled behind the strip I suppose this story is a continuation of that history . Highlights are the "lamb in oven" which is served with the most yum saffron lemon potatoes , a proper melt in your mouth delight oozing with pan juices . I would order this and ask for additional potatoes you are going to want them . "Stuffed peppers and tomatoes" . They were just done so right like only your momma would know how . Just let the produce do the talking. "Bakalava" a generous helping of crispy, buttery filo pastry filled with walnuts and finished with a spiced honey syrup. As a chef I often find it hard to find places that fill my heart with joy . Zafora and nonna certainly achieved that and more . We had the most delightful lunch at a charming Greek restaurant in Akrotiri, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The setting was relaxed and inviting — perfect for a leisurely midday meal with a view of the sea and the calming breeze of Santorini.

The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. You could tell they genuinely cared about their guests having a great experience.

We ordered a mix of traditional dishes to share — the Greek salad was refreshingly crisp with generous chunks of feta, the stuffed vine leaves (dolmadakia) were beautifully seasoned, and the grilled souvlaki was juicy and full of flavor. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and made with love. The local white wine recommended by our server paired perfectly with the meal.
