Remezzo — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

I do not recommend eating at Remezzo if you are an American person of color. After a few hours at the beach, my sister and I walked into Remezzo for lunch before our walk back to our hotel. The host asked us if we were going to drink (we assumed he meant alcohol) and we said no, we just wanted to eat. He then sat us at the table closest to the entry way. A family of four was seated a few minutes after us. We waited almost 10 minutes and menus were still not brought to us. I noticed that the family of four walked up and took menus off a nearby table. I got up to do the same. As I was taking the menus, the host came and said he would bring the menus. He brought the menus to us and set the table. My sister and I are vegetarian. We quickly realized that the menu had very few veg options so we chose what we wanted to eat quickly. Minutes passed and neither the host or the waitress came to take our drink/food order. We noticed that the family of four who had taken their own menus, had their drink AND food order taken. Their drinks were brought to them. My sister and I sat at our empty table in hunger as everyone around us was served. I made eye contact with the host several times, with a perplexed look on my face as to why no one was coming to our table. They were not that busy, because it was between meal times. We were wondering whether we weren't being served because we weren't European or because we weren't planning to drink alcohol...After over half an hour after being seated and not being waited on, my sister and I decided to leave. We walked the extra 10 minutes to the village closer to our hotel to eat lunch. The owner/host at the restaurant we went to was very kind and personable. ATTENTION ESCROQUERIE: nous AVONS dû payer 90 EUROS pour UN SEUL PETIT PLAT DE POISSON POUR DEUX PERSONNES (ma petite amie et moi) et deux jus de fruit. Nous avons été factures de plusieurs kilos de poisson alors que le poisson servi faisant moins de 200 grammes et que la serveuse a refusé de le préparer. Cinq personnes d'une même famille tiennent le restaurant. Nous avons subi des PRESSIONS de la part de ces individus. Le restaurant est extrêmement isolé et nous ne sommes pas habitants de l'île, il n'y avait personne d'autre dans les environs, il a avaient des armes dans le restaurant comme des harpon de pêche, donc nous N'AVONS PAS VOULU D'HISTOIRES en vacances et nous AVONS PAYÉ LES 90 EUROS RÉCLAMÉS POUR LE POISSON. Les propriétaires du restaurant étaient extrêmement heureux quand nous les avons payés et ont échangé quelques RICANEMENTS avec des remarques en GREC sur un ton de moquerie à notre attention que nous n'avons pas pu comprendre. L'ambiance était devenue GLAUQUE et DANGEREUSE. Nous sommes des personnes polies et respectueuses, nous sommes désolés que les touristes puissent se faire arnaquer de la sorte quand ils partent en vacances. JE N'AI JAMAIS EU UN PROBLÈME NULLE PART AILLEURS DANS UN RESTAURANT, JE NE VOUS RECOMMANDE PAS MON EXPÉRIENCE

BEWARE SCAMMERS: my girlfriend and me ordered ONE FISH TO SHARE for 2 people and 2 orange juice. The waiter said us he offer us the 2 orange juice. We had paid 90 EUROS FOR A LITTLE FISH FOR 2 PEOPLE. Because they asked us to paid for 3 kilogrammes of fish instead of 0,2 kg for the little fish we had. WE PAID THIS AMOUNT because we didn't wanted any problems in holidays, WE had PRESSURE of the owners of the restaurant, the restaurant was empty and isolated, and we are foreigners tourists. THEY HAD WEAPONS in the restaurant like harpoon for the FISH and the restaurant was isolated and empty. The owners were really AGRESSIVE with us and when they get the 90 euros they laughing together and were really not respectful with us. We didn't understood this situation, because we are really polite and respectful people. The atmosphere looked like really DANGEROUS, because it was nobody in the aera and they were 5 OF THEM AROUND US LOOKING US VERY BAD AND LAUGHING TOGETHER in Greek language. We really felt not in security. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN ANY RESTAURANT OF THE WORLD BEFORE, I DIDN'T RECOMMAND YOU...

If you're looking for a beautiful place to eat with a spectacular view and delicious foods this is where you wanna be. My wife and I while on our honeymoon were lucky enough to be with a short walking distance of this little gem. Intially we thought it might be a tourist trap because the restaurant has such a great location as far as scenery but no this place has it all. The women that served us (which we believe to be the owner of the establishment) recommend we try some freshly caught fish that day. We took her recommendation and it did not disappoint! The fish was delicious 😋 as well as the Greek salad and fries. An experience like this couldn't of been more perfect as a first meal...
