We visited Mithymna last week, and while strolling through this amazing town, we stumbled across Martin's Restaurant.
Since it was lunchtime, we figured we would sit outside on the street, under the parasols overlooking the town and sea. This alone was worth it for us – and then Martin added his amazing food into the mix.
Now, and I’ve told my friends this too: I am not a food reviewer. I typically don't have strong opinions about food beyond “nice,” but Martin's Mixed Grill and Lamb Kleftiko were amazing.
I have never, ever tasted meat like this. It was utterly delicious – so well prepared, incredibly tender, and perfectly seasoned. Even the side salad was very tasty and unexpectedly had a mildly sweet dressing (like a less sweet version of marmalade?) that I had never tasted before.

Read moreMartin is a wonderful host. He personally attends to all the tables. For starters, we tried the Greek salad, kabak çiçeği dolması and octopus that he recommended. Everything was quite delicious. (Since I am a vegetarian, I didn't eat the octopus). My spouse had Martin's kebab, and I had spaghetti Napolitana. Both were very good. My spouse drank ouzo, and since I don't drink it, I asked for white wine, and Martin offered to me for free. The service and atmosphere were excellent. Martin demonstrated that being a good tradesperson is not just about making money, a practice that is becoming rare in Türkiye. Thank you, Martin.
