Went to this place for the first time and everything was amazing. For our last night of the holiday we wanted to ensure it was going to be our best day, so we decided to go back here based on how good the previous night was. Unfortunately our night was ruined by the attitude of the waiter, who appears to be the owner maybe, large guy, dark hair, mid 40's. When taking our order we told him multiple times that the chicken for our daughter needs to be plain, no sauce at all, which he said was not a problem. When the food arrived the chicken was covered in sauce. Not an issue at this point as people make mistakes and there may be a translation mixup. When we explained to the waiter we asked for the chicken to be plain he appeared to be annoyed by this and abruptly said "well, she is going to have to wait longer now", not really a nice comment to say in front of my 9 year old when she is sat there with no food, whilst the rest of us was served. In our defence I said to him that 'we did explain this prior to ordering', to which he then outbursts whilst walking away from us in earshot of all the other customers that the chef is only human and mistakes happen etc etc. This was not a big deal and a simple apology would have sufficed, instead, we were left angered, embarrassed and the meal felt uncomfortable as he'd look over at us from the bar throughout. Sadly our last day was...
Read moreTaverna Andreas has a nice back patio with plenty of seating and quick food service. The menu is a good size with plenty of the Greek classics you’d expect to see at the local tavernas.
We ordered the saganaki and halloumi, both were good but not great. The Parga recipe kolokithokeftedes were excellent and the horiatiki salata was fresh and huge, easily enough for 4+ people.
While the octopus was tasty and tender, I was a bit disappointed in how small the portion was (one leg of average size at best - served with a ton of the same veggies from the horiatiki salad). The calamari was again good but not great. Lamb chops were very tender with good flavour, but like many of the dishes, a bit on the salty side.
Taverna Andreas is a good option. You will enjoy your meal, but I’m not convinced it’s one of the best options...
Read moreThe prices on the bill that we received were higher than on the menu - I do not believe it was a mistake as it was quite subtle; just in the way someone would hope we do not notice.
Otherwise the food was amazing - we ordered garlic bread, shrimp saganaki, peppers stuffed with cheese and herbs, veal stew and lamb with vegetables. I cannot say anything bad about any of it - i truly enjoyed every bit of it and left with a full tummy. The location of the taverna is very cozy, trees and flowers do the job and I did not feel like I missed the sea view.
If not the strange adding up on the bill I would easily give 5 starts and nice tip for the staff (especially the cook !!) - however as me and my partner really did not appreciate messing with our bill, no tip and 3...
