We weren’t sure if this would be a good spot for breakfast but we needed to park ourselves somewhere close to the port for a couple hours before our ferry to Athens, and so we decided to give this place a try. Happy to confirm that the breakfast here is great! I had the chocolate and banana pancakes and my other half had the bacon waffle - both tasty and clearly cooked fresh. We also had some tea, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice and that was great too. Only downfall was a table of American girls that sat behind us, who made a very difficult order off the menu and then rushed the kitchen to prepare it quickly because they needed to meet their tour guide in 15 minutes. This baffled us, why would you go somewhere for a sit down meal if you had about 20 minutes to spare, on top of it, why would you then start asking for all the dishes to be changed and cooked to some obscure preferences. 🤦🏻♀️ Please don’t be those tourists. The owner and his staff are all clearly trying to do their best to keep all of their tables happy - this is a charming little Greek seaside restaurant with lovely food, not a Starbucks where you customise every part...
Read moreAnother really good, affordable option near the port of Parikia. Lots of seating available outside and the menu is a little more modern/ creative than some of the authentically-styled, classic tavernas you will see in the area. It is right across from the port so it's fairly busy at most times. Not entirely sure you need a rezo but it is situated in tourist central; you'll have a lot of diversity when it comes to patrons.
We had a Metaxi Grill (which is essentially a mix of meats with melted cheese on top) and a chicken souvlaki plate. Portions sizes were huge for the main dishes which is something I really appreciate at restaurants. I thought they were affordable. Little pricier for the smaller ones (tzatziki for example).
Service was just okay - Would have liked to see our server be a little more attentive considering there went many times seated while...
Read moreWe had the trio of souvlaki + the pork and chicken gyros. Fantastic - albeit the gyros were slightly colder than one would expect, but didn’t change the flavour and enjoyment factor. We stayed at the restaurant sipping cocktails (many cocktails) and can highly recommend their mojito (with less sugar). Staff were attentive, let us use their WiFi & wait for the incoming ship to Athens.
Bathroom was a bit manky, assuming we can thank some filthy tourist(s) for this gift, and the front outdoor space was protected from the midday sun and wind.
If you have some time to kill and food you’d like to smash -...
