If Zeus himself came down from Mount Olympus and asked, “Where can I get a decent pork gyros and a beer without smiting someone?” I’d point him straight to Yiannoulis.
First off, let’s talk portions. The pork gyros pita is 4.20€. FOUR. TWENTY. For less than the price of a fancy latte back home, I got enough meat, fries, and tzatziki to fuel a small Spartan army. And yes, the fries come IN the pita, because Greece has known about “carb loading” since the Olympics were invented.
The seafood? The grilled swordfish filet was so tender I half expected Poseidon to burst out of the Aegean and demand it back. Meanwhile, the shrimps in red sauce (with feta, because of course) slapped harder than a wave at Naxos.
Desserts are where Yiannoulis really flexes. The baklava was so sweet it gave me diabetes just by looking at it, and the chocolate mosaic log? I don’t know who invented it, but they deserve a Nobel Prize in Pastry.
Drinks? Mythos beer, Fix, local Paros lagers, ouzo, tsipouro… Let’s just say I left speaking fluent Greek after two glasses of Masticha Liqueur and I’m 99% sure I agreed to marry someone’s cousin.
All in all, Yiannoulis isn’t just a taverna — it’s a lifestyle. You don’t leave with just a full belly; you leave with a new philosophy on life: feta goes on everything, fried cheese is a food group, and salad is only acceptable if it has at least 3 types of cheese hiding in it.
Highly recommend. Just don’t check your cholesterol...
Read moreAwesome place along the harbour and a good menu with options for everyone with every preference and budget. We started with the assorted appetizer plate and couldn’t recommend it more. It was AMAZING and even though it’s recommended for 2 you could have up to 4 people comfortably have a bite (if you’re looking to try rather than fill up on your app). It consisted of the various dip options on the menu (tzatziki, favs bean dip, eggplant dip, fish egg dip) and a tomato & cheese salad in the middle. The pita served on the side was also AMAZING. We were excited to try the seafood platter for 2 but I guess we hadn’t realized how much fish was on it relative to order seafood (eg. Octopus, calamari, shrimp) and we didn’t love the sardines or the bigger fish so we weren’t fully satisfied with our choice. Also worth noting this platter will easily feed 3 people with a moderate appetite - its really huge.
Finally since the patio was enclosed it was nice and warm but there were some cats wandering around and the lack of airflow was irritating my allergies. I know that there’s cats all over Greece just also wanted to flag for anyone in the...
