A day ago, my mother and I visited this restaurant hoping to escape the scorching heat that reached nearly 40 degrees. When we arrived, we chose to sit at a small table for three people, considering the temperature. However, the owner (presumably) suggested, in what seemed like a friendly manner, that we occupy a larger table at the front of the restaurant, claiming it was their best table and better if we don't want the sun and more suitable for accommodating all the dishes we would order. I couldn't help but feel that he only wanted us there to make his empty restaurant appear busier, especially since he complained later on about the season being quiet (it had been as well the previous years for him~he said). Reluctantly, we agreed to sit at the recommended table. As time passed and our food arrived, the sun started to descend, making the situation uncomfortable. I politely asked if they could lower the tent to shield us from the sun, but the owner dismissively claimed that it wasn't for that purpose. Despite the inconvenience, I smiled and conveyed that we preferred to stay at the table we initially chose due to the reasons I mentioned. As the sun continued to lower, its reflection on the sea made it even harder to enjoy our dinner, creating further discomfort. The owner approached us again to inquire about our experience, and I couldn't help but express my frustration, saying, "No! I'm burning here, and it's unbearably hot on this table you placed us!" Even after we finished our meal and were served some fruit, the owner rushed us to settle the bill, not even giving us a chance to ask for it ourselves. This hastiness annoyed us, and we reluctantly paid and left. As we prepared to leave, the owner made a comment about my skin getting a nice color from the sun. Irritated, I retorted, "Excuse me, sir, but I already had enough sun/tan! I didn't need an extra dose on such a scorching day." With a forced smile, I left. The service was utterly disappointing. On a day when temperatures soared to 40 degrees, the owner should have been more considerate of the fewer customers choosing his establishment and not make them suffer at the front table just to create an illusion of a busy restaurant. I was genuinely upset by the whole experience. I usually refrain from leaving negative reviews, but I feel it's essential to warn others who are seeking a decent place to dine and not be deceived. Regarding the food, it was decent, neither bad nor exceptional. However, the overall experience left a sour taste, overshadowing any positives. I hope this review helps others make a well-informed decision while choosing a dining...
Read moreWe entered from the left-hand side of the building and made it clear we were only having drinks. It was around 6:30 PM, so we understood the staff might be focusing on attracting dinner guests. However, when we asked to pay, we were told “one minute” and then watched as they continued to serve others, leaving us waiting unnecessarily.
When we asked again, we were told it was “cash only” and that “you’re not in Britain.” This was both unprofessional and inaccurate. In Greece, businesses are legally required to accept card payments. He continued to speak about power cuts (which was not relevant to our visit), that the business doesn’t take as much money etc. After some back and forth, they reluctantly let us pay by card and told us, “Don’t come back.”
Very disappointing, especially in such a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the poor service overshadowed...
Read moreWe came to Sissi for our honeymoon and after trying all of the restaurants in town, Paradise Cove was the one we kept coming back to most. The owner Demetriou was such a welcoming and funny host, and all of the staff were polite and attentive. If you're a fish lover this is the place to eat, they have a staple of dishes on the menu (including having some of the best chips I've ever eaten) but paying a little bit extra to have the catches of the day is definitely worth it. We had red snapper a few times, simply grilled with lemon, olive oil, and salt and it was incredible. Other than these highlights you'll also have the most stunning view of the harbour to gaze at while you're eating. Drinking wine, eating amazing food and staring at the sunset glistening on the water... can't get much...
