⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolutely unforgettable experience at The Cellar in Cephalonia, Greece. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome—especially the two waiters who were polite, enthusiastic, and full of knowledge about every dish. One of the chefs personally showed us the day’s fresh catch, explaining each one in detail to us. It was a lovely, personal touch that really set the tone for the rest of the meal. The standout dish was the lobster spaghetti—beautifully cooked and packed with flavour. Truly one of the best we’ve ever had. The rest of the menu was equally impressive: delicious, and immaculately presented. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and was served promptly with care and attention. The entire team clearly takes pride in what they do. The restaurant itself is in a beautiful spot by a small marina, adding to the charm and relaxed atmosphere. Every single person in our group had a brilliant time, and we all agreed it was fantastic value for money. Highly recommended—you’ll be in excellent hands at The Cellar. Can’t wait to return!

The food was fantastic! We tried a few other restaurants along the sea front in Sami during our stay and had been underwhelmed by the generally bland food. The Cellar was notably more expensive than the other restaurants we visited, but it was more than worthwhile. The octopus special was delicious, as was the sea bass starter. Even the fries were lovely! The bottled wine was a bit out of our price range, so we went with a carafe of merlot, which was only 10 euros and very refreshing (best wine we have had so far on the island). The service was also great - they even brought us an extra table to fit all the plates as we had ordered a range of dishes (it was hard to decide from the concise but enticing menu). The meal was rounded off with a complementary local shot, which was very tasty. Couldn't recommend more!

Aber schon als Vorspeise gab es geröstetes Brot mit Salz, Pfeffer, Virgin Olivenöl und einer schwarzen Knoblauch Butter, welche auf einer Muschel in Form einer Muschel serviert war. Optisch genauso ansprechend wie geschmacklich. Genau so ging auch die Hauptspeise weiter. Alles war sehr schön angerichtet und hat hervorragend geschmeckt. Eine geschmackliche Traumreise wie wir sie lange nichtmehr erlebt hatten. Alles war sehr frisch und ist vor Geschmack förmlich explodiert. Die Krabbe war saftig und süß, das ganze Aroma vereinte sich mit den Nudeln und war eine einzige Meisterleistung. Der Kalmar war der beste den wir je gegessen hatten. Perfekt gebraten mit einer sehr feinen Soße. Selbst der Salat war frisch und saftig. Zum Abschluss gab es noch ein Raki als Geschenk des Hauses. Dieser war sehr zimtig und Honig süß, sehr lecker und hat den Magen sehr angenehm geschlossen. Wir waren zur Mittagszeit um 14:00 hier und hatten direkt einen Platz bekommen, es wurde aber langsam voller. Um es nicht zu verpassen wäre eine Reservierung besonders abends sinnvoll, aber wer in der Nähe ist kann auch spontan sein Glück versuchen. Der Preis hat uns wirklich überrascht, denn obwohl alles viel frischer und köstlicher war als bei anderen Restaurants, war der Preis nicht teurer. Wir haben für die Pasta mit Königskrabbe, den Kalmar und eine große Flasche Wasser nur 47€ gezahlt. Das Restaurant ist noch sehr neu (2 Monate) und alles ist mit sehr viel Liebe gemacht. Wir hoffen, dass alles so bleibt und freuen uns auf ein Wiedersehen.

We have recently returned from a holiday in kefalonia, Sami a very atmospheric sea port on the east coast of Kefalonia, As a family we have been visiting kefalonia for over 20 years so our combined experience of eating out in the Taververners in kefalonia particularly Sami are vast and varied, to be Honest we have over the time eaten in every Taverna in Sami and the Wider area places like Polata, Agia fimia and beyond, so when a new place opens we are there , The Cellar is quite new so we turned up and was show a table of our choice, which was a nice change from being give no choice, from being greated to finishing our meal the whole experience was something of a shock! It was and I can speak for the whole family the best Gastronomical experience we have had in Sami in a long time. From the service to the food, ohh the food ,I've never tasted sauted prawns like this in my life, superior to anything else I have tasted in a long time ! The seating the Crockery the environment, the quality of every aspect has been thought about and executed with such professionalism they haven't missed anything out ,can't express how we all felt about this Taverna . We will be back next year for sure and there are more of us next year so look out The Cellar and the Cellar Team we are on our way back . Congratulations on an amazing food experience, it's so better than anything else in Sami and your not packed in like Sardines in a tin !! Ohh by the way, the House wine is served quite differently than any other Tavernas, just that little difference makes a meal into...

One of the cute restaurants by the Sami port. Every time you travel you have a disappointing experience and this was it for us. When we go to Greece, we look for authenticity and great cuisine. Unfortunately, as places become more and more touristy, some venues think that they can underestimate people's level of understanding of what tasty means and overpriced their meals. The host was really pushy. Since we sat down he was overselling. We decided to only have a few small plates as we weren't convinced by what we saw. He kept trying to insist that it wasn't enough to order some more, and ended up making us feel uncomfortable as we didn't want to order more. When the plates arrived we were extremely disappointed. The marinated anchovies were so incredibly salty that it was almost impossible to eat them. The octopus was so grilled that it was extremely chewy and the fava that it came with... I've never had such a terrible fava in my life! The sea bass ceviche was also super salty and inedible. It is truly a shame, because the products they use are high quality, but the standards with which they are cooked, poor. Reduce your menu and master the basics. Stop being pushy, it might work with some naive tourists but...
