Me and my girlfriend came for a meal at Anna’s kitchen on 09.07.2023. I know how important constructive criticism is to restaurants, I work in a restaurant myself so I am going to start with the good things. The setting is great, the restaurant is located underneath olive trees and the lighting is really nice. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Now, for the not so good. The prices are quite expensive for the area, however, we are used to paying more for a meal out back at home so we were not too bothered by this. Starters were good, mains not the best, the octopus risotto was not at all what my girlfriend expected when it arrived, I ordered the moussaka and thought it was not very hot (although, I hold my hands up we didn’t bring this to a waiters attention as it was busy and we didn’t want to be bothersome). No one came to check back to see if our mains were ok anyway. We didn’t have dessert and paid. This is the worst part, we got back to our hotel that evening and roughly 6-8 hours after the meal both started feeling really ill, first my girlfriend then me. Both of us spent the early hours of the morning feeling awful and were then stuck in bed for the majority of the next day with aches and chills all over our bodies, so we completely lost a day of our holiday. When I managed to get out of bed the next day around 3pm I went out into the town and decided that I would also stop in at the restaurant and give them the benefit of speaking to them about our experience in person, rather than just leaving a bad review. I got to the restaurant and asked if there was a manager I could speak to, it was the same manager from the evening before, when we had our meal. I explained the whole situation and he proceeded to tell me that as he didn’t know what we had done before and after our meal there was nothing he could do, blaming it on what we had potentially had to drink that day or prolonged sun exposure (my girlfriend barely drinks alcohol and we are very responsible in the sun, always wearing high protection and making sure to not stay in the sun for too long and surely it would be a bit of a coincidence for us both to become unwell from sun exposure at the exact same time?). He then asked what we had eaten on the evening, I told him and he proceeded to tell me there is nothing in those dishes that could have made us ill. Yet Moussaka contains mince meat which certainly can make you ill if not prepared properly and, of course, octopus can make you ill. Besides, any food can make you ill under certain circumstances. He also mentioned that he had never experienced a complaint like this in 9 years of service, something I find very hard to believe and also don’t really understand because going off reviews it doesn’t even look like the place has been open 9 years? Anyway, I did not want to stay there debating each other when I felt unwell. Apologies for the long review, I just don’t want anybody else to experience the same whilst on...
Read moreBeen coming here for the last 3 years. Every year we had a brilliant experience with amazing food. Until this year . . . It was absolute atrocious!! Took ages for them to take our order and for our food to come. I had to call them over to take our food order otherwise I would still be sitting there now. Eventually our food came and what a disappointment. My partners food was a smaller portion then my child's. 16 euro for 3 pieces of chicken and 2 potatoes pieces. My food had cooked rice mixed with raw rice. I complained to a waiter who said she had to go check and would bring me a salad. No salad arrived and she did not come back. Everyone completely ignored us until we had to pay. Then the guy came over and said the women said we said it fine. No one had even come to check with us. He argued and kept arguing. They did not want to take any reaponsilbility even with the disgusting food in front of them. We refused to pay the full bill and I wish I only paid for the drinks as the service and the food was not worth a penny.
We also watched the barman who looked at the bottles to see what was what. He looked like he didn't have a clue. When watching him make a cocktail he poured that much water in the cocktail that I feel sorry for people paying that much for half water. I'm not a professional but never made a cocktail with half a bottle of water.
Will never go back and feel sad that I've recommended this place to people. Please avoid to avoid disappointment. So many better options in Tsilivi this year. The only thing going for this place is the...
